eight - the wolf queen

.

Arthur ducked as another arrow sailed over his head, it landed with a thud in a tree.

Lancelot slung his bow over his shoulder sprinting towards them.

Quirina swung her sword in a wide arc, but Lancelot ducked, he threw her to the ground.

"I don't want to fight you," he said.

Quirina stood up, she flipped sideways and slammed her sword to him, but he parried it with his own blade, "You just killed a kid who'd done nothing wrong."

"Like you're a stranger to doing that," Lancelot grunted, doing a shoulder roll to avoid another blow, he thrust his sword towards her but she parried it, "If it makes you feel better, I was supposed to kill the human guy."

"You know each other?" Yelled Arthur.

Lancelot kicked Arthur, and the human fell to the ground, "Shut up."

Quirina spun around, slashing her sword towards Lancelot, he also spun around, deflecting the blow.

"Arthur run!" Quirina yelled.

"Qui-"

"ARTHUR RUN, THAT'S AN ORDER!" She screamed, backflipping to avoid another blow.

The human tore through the trees, running in a mad sprint to the hill.

The two fought with unrivalled skill, one never getting an upper hand on the other. Until finally, they stood, panting.

Quirina held her sword out in front of her, "I have orders to kill you, Lancelot."

"As do I, Quirina," he replied, sword in front of him. He looked at the girl, blue eyes wide, his stare was hungry, as if he couldn't get enough of her.

Quirina dropped her sword to the ground and threw herself into Lancelot's arms. They stood there, embracing one another for several blissful moments.

"Lancelot," Quirina murmured, "You have to get away from here."

Lancelot nodded, he cupped her face in his hands and pressed his lips to her forehead. It felt as if his entire world was crumbling, as he tore his hands from her and ran away. Nothing had ever felt so wrong. He wished with all his heart to stay with her, and yet he was running away.

Gawain grabbed Quirina's arm, dashing into the forest, "I've been looking for you everywhere."

The two ran towards the mill, slaughtering paladins. They fought the red-robed men, staggering forwards.

"Gawain!" Quirina yelled, pushing the man away from the paladin.

Before she could stop it, the sword had slashed her, cutting into the place between her collarbone and left shoulder. A scream tore from her lips as blood splattered the grass. She stabbed her sword into his throat and began running after Gawain.

"Come on, and stop bleeding!" he yelled.

Blood now stained the front of her shirt, the wound was deeper than she'd first anticipated. Okay, the wound was very deep - like, if she were human she'd be dead - deep.
