six - i am the alpha now

The tall, brown haired boy ran to the dark haired girl, ready to embrace her in a hug. She stiffened, edging away slightly, memory flashing to a horrible event that occurred in a similar cave.
Her face softened slightly, but her eyes were still wild with fear - the stone walls of the cave seemed to loom in on her. Taunting her with her memories, the air seemed to suffocate her, filling her with fright.
"Let's go outside," she managed, leaving, Drazhan following.
Finally, Quirina sucked in a few deep breaths when greeted with fresh air.
"So," she said, sitting upon a stone, "Tell me your story."
Drazhan told her of how he escaped upon Caliban and fled into the woods with a small resistance from other Vaelin Wolf-kind, and members of the Malkin and Raleigh packs, and were shortly joined by members of Dragormir and Ozera.
That left Venandi and Deane.
The group reached a Druid village and then together followed the markers until they reached Nemos several days ago.
"So now, Miss Shadowsmith, tell me what happened to you," Drazhan smirked.
Quirina cringed, remembering the incident. She felt bile rise in her throat as her hands began to shake. Trying to keep her voice from quivering, she managed to tell her tale.
Drazhan eyed her, aware that she was keeping something from him, but didn't press.
"Let me take you to Caliban," they walked over to the other side of the cave, to find a group of horses. Among them, was a majestic black horse.
Or as she liked to call him; and arrogant little shit of a horse.
He would get on perfectly well with Goliath, had they ever met.
Caliban ran to Quirina, braying happily as she ran her fingers though his mane. "Thank you for taking care of him," she stated.
Drazhan was about to reply when a fellow Vaelin wolf barged into him, sending the boy sprawling on the ground, "Bastard," he laughed.
"Half human parasite, couldn't your daddy find a wyrewolf mate instead of bedding some human wench?" The other guffawed, before they both left.
"Shut up, Weylin - or I'll have your head on a stick!" Quirina snapped, helping Drazhan up, "You okay?
Drazhan nodded a playful grin on his face, "It's fine, they're just jealous of my creativity and ingenuity." But even as he said it, the smile didn't reach his eyes.
"Drazhan," Quirina said, her voice stern and commanding, "Nobility is defined by what you do, not by who you are."
He nodded, petting Caliban, "I know, you've only told me a gazillion times."
She rolled her eyes, "And you've only disregarded it a gazillion times."
"Quir-"
"Drazhan Vaelin," she snapped, grabbing his wrist, "You can't fall prey to the whimsy taunts of lesser wolf-kind. You are a killer. You are a monster. And you are powerful. Never forget that." There was something in her voice, something so stern and commanding that he didn't dare disagree. The way she looked at him, the stony lack of emotion on her face.
