"Are we really going to do this?" I asked Sam, really hoping for an answer. I didn't know how to tell him. And I didn't want it to come off sounding weird so I just shut up and let it play out. And, hell, I started it. It would forever go down in history that what happened was all my fault.

How in fucking hell was I going to explain to him that I was still a virgin?

It wasn't that big of a deal; I was a big girl and I could manage myself. But a teeny tiny bit of me still somehow cared what he thought about it. Maybe I would come off to him as a Daddy's girl who was never allowed to do much of anything. Or some celibate Catholic girl who wanted to save herself till marriage.

"I think so, yeah," he replied. It made me feel even less at ease because I could see he wanted us to do it. He wasn't going to push if I said no but I didn't want to say no. I just didn't know how to say yes either.

He bent over and kissed my cheek.

"Your breath is minty," I said, somehow realizing it for the first time.

"Listerine," he responded.

"You're really something," I replied, chuckling.

I wasn't ready. Goddammit, I wasn't ready. And he was clearly giving me the eyes. I immediately started wondering just how many girls he had been with. Or maybe he hadn't and he wanted me to be the first? Well, that didn't seem plausible because if it was his first time he wouldn't be this confident. I was simply torn. And then the Savior of my life descended as though from the heavenly places. Or more like ascended because he had to walk all the way upstairs.

"Hey, Sam, you feeling good?" Charlie said as he walked into the room. He hesitated before coming in which gave me ample time to get off of Sam and lie just beside him.

"Yeah, I am. I have my guardian angel after all," he said as he turned to look at me and gave me a warm smile which would melt anyone's heart. I smiled back and punched him in the shoulder.

"Well, ain't this cute?" Charlie chucked. "If you're feeling better anytime soon come downstairs. Pool party in a bit."

"Really? That's sick," I said with glee at the thought of going for a dive. Nothing sluttier than skinny dipping in a swimming pool at midnight. I turned back to Sam. "You're gonna join in, right?"

"Oh, yeah sure. Definitely. Wouldn't miss it for the world." Sam said.

"You'd better not. Sharon, look after him so he doesn't choke on a bar of soap or something while I go downstairs and make sure they don't set the house on fire." Charlie uttered as he made his way to the door.

"Oh, Sam?" He turned back toward him. "Need something to eat?"

"What's on the menu?" He asked.

"Chinese food? There's also spicy and regular chicken if you want some. Fresh bottles of Orange Juice in the fridge, bottles of soda in the freezer and I think we still have a few beers." Charlie answered.

"I guess there's an incentive to come down now," he responded, chuckling.

"Lay your ass down. No more beers for you. Sharon, walk with me," Charlie said as he once again walked toward the door. I turned to Sam who lay by my side. His hair was ruffled and spread everywhere on his head. I dug my fingers in and tried to arrange it.

"I'll be right back. And if you fall asleep before that happens, I'll take one of these here pillows and smother you till you suffocate."

"You're just the sweetest, aren't you?" He said, smiling and looking at me. He was so damn cute that it had to be a sin. I rolled my eyes playfully and got up from the bed, following Charlie out of the room.
