Chapter 16 Ari

I didn't realize I had fallen asleep until I was awakened by a banging on the door.

"What the fuck?" Questioned Square, underneath me. When I attempt to lift my head, he gently pushes my head back down on his chest and starts rubbing my scalp.

"Just ignore them and they will go away" Edison mumbles against my back, causing me to shiver.

Fortunately, the banging stops. Unfortunately, the person doing the banging just let's themselves in. "Oh my gosh. You gotta be fucking kidding me. What's going on here?" Yells out from the unknown person. I feel Square scramble to gather a blanket to cover me. "What the hell Lori? The door was locked for a reason." Edison yells out.

"When has locks ever stopped any of us before? I knocked as a courtesy. I can't believe I came home for this." Lori replies with disgust.

"What is that supposed to mean? This is your home, what would this" Square gestured towards us. "Have any bearing on you coming home or not?"

"I came home for you Square, for us to finally be together. Not to walk in on some abomination."

"Get the fuck out Lori." Edison yells

Lori scoffed "Seriously Edison? I'm surprised by you the most."

"Watch it, Lori."

"Or what, Edison? You begged me to come home, telling me it was my chance to be with Square and here you are in bed with him."

"You did what?" Square sits up, staring at Edison.

"Yeah, your best friend called me and told me my dreams finally came true. That we could finally be together. Square, I know you're going through a little phase but I don't mind waiting as long as we end up together. Can you imagine how powerful we could be, when our magic merges together?"

"Lori, we had this conversation several times. I only see you as my friend. And this little phase has been going strong for over the past 10 years." Square shrug his shoulders "at this point I don't think it qualifies as a little phase anymore."

"But you're with her" she yells

"She's, my mate. We have a connection."

"Bullshit, we could have a connection too Square. You just have to allow it."

"I think your time here is done." Edison sneers, getting out of bed waking towards her, in his naked glory. I see, she tries but fails to not look at his impressive package. "As you can see, we were in the middle of something. Would you be so kind to excuse yourself?"

"Fuck you, Edison"

"No thanks love. Just got done fucking someone a whole lot better. Good night."

"I'm not leaving without Square." Lori barks out

"Oh, you will leave or I will drain you dry where you stand. Please don't confuse me taking you in, when you were young, with me actually caring for you. The sole purpose was strictly for Square's sake." Edison replies

Something changes in Lori's face, while bitterness and rage permeates the air. She straightens her spine, throwing out her arms sending power magic straight towards Edison's chest like lightning.

Edison brings his hand out in front of him, absorbing the magic into his palm. Once he finishes, he smiles and wave at Lori. "Now before you make me really upset. I suggest you leave. Square knows how to find you if he wants to talk."

I'm still frozen in Square's arms, watching this take place. What type of protector am I? I didn't even see or prevent the attack from happening. I was too busy processing the fact that Edison asked Lori to come back here for Square. Did he do this in hopes to separate us?
