I wake with a start, when I feel a wet rough tongue lick my face. I sit up, scooting backwards, away from a large wolf. At first, I don't recognize where I am but soon, I remember creating a portal to escape the shelter to Raoul Wallenberg Forest. It was the only place I could think of where I wasn't afraid, I was going to jump out of the portal in front of a human. I would come here some times to allow my wolf to roam free, while I've been staying here.
The wolf comes closer, lowering its head. My wolf is giving me a feeling like we know him, but I have never seen this wolf before. I see him try to stick his tongue out to lick me again, but I throw up my force field preventing him. He lets out a low whimper.
Suddenly he transforms into a man I recognize, panic floods my senses because I immediately suspect Square has found me. I curse myself for falling asleep. I have no idea how long I slept. I can tell by the sun, its well past noon. I quickly look around and check my surroundings to confirm its only us. I'm surprised to see Jamie sitting in front of me, slowly putting his clothes back on.
"Jamie, what are you doing here?" I ask, only after checking my surroundings one more time, to make sure we are alone.
"I could ask you the same thing. I come here from time to time and allow my wolf some freedom. I came across you, early this morning all alone, barely clothed. I wanted to keep you safe and warm so my wolf stayed with you while attempting to do so. May, I ask what would make you decide to come take a nap in the middle of the forest?"
"I just needed some time to myself."
"Oh, did you finally wake up and decide to leave Square alone?" He asks a little too excited, pissing me off in return.
"It's not in the way you're thinking but yes me and Square are no longer together."
"Oh, really has the goddess answered my prayers?"
"I wouldn't say that"
"Oh, but I would"
I gather my things and turned away from him. I'm still kind of upset with him, about the things he said about Square last time I saw him. Honestly, even though he didn't like our relationship. I don't trust him not to let it Square know where I am at.
"Do you want some company?"
"Actually, no."
"Do you mind me asking where you're going?"
"Actually, I do. I'm about to get going. Good seeing you."
"Are you leaving town?"
"I'm sorry but that's none of your business."
"Well, you don't have to say it but your body language and the large duffle bag over your shoulder is a dead giveaway."
I don't reply to him, I just start walking. I can tell by the crunching sounds against the grass he's following behind me.
"Hold up Marie, let me walk with you. It's not safe for you to be walking through the streets by yourself. You never know what's lurking behind the next tree." He walks to catch up with me.
I look over my shoulder to see him still walking slightly behind me. His once cute smile is giving me creep vibes now.
"I'm fine. You don't have to follow me. I'm a wolf you know."
"A very strong one too but I would not be a gentleman if I allowed you to walk by yourself. So please do me the honor of allowing me to walk you to your destination."
I don't reply. I pull out my phone and Google the directions to the nearest train station. I didn't realize Jamie was looking over my shoulder and peeking at my phone. Discovering what I just searched.
