It had been about two weeks since Lissa had been attacked by Strigoi. They were coming back from St.Vladimirs. It had been they same scenario like when they had lost Rose. Strigoi attacked and they had fought them off. But this time there were less. The worst that had happened had been one guardian getting a fractured collarbone.
After words Lissa and Christian had retired to their rooms so Dimitri had been released of duties. He had decided to go check in on Rose. It had been awhile...
He made his way to the hospital. The 3rd floor, North wing, room 379. He had memorized it. He made his way back passing rooms he had seen to many times. Said hi to nurses he knew. Nodded at familiar faces.
When he finally got to Rose's room it was the same as always: Rose asleep on the bed, blinds half open. Chairs next to the bed, and monitors beeping. He took up his usual chair next to the bed on the left side. He held Rose's hand in his own. He wondered what was going through her mind. Could she hear him right now? He would most likely never know.
He gave her hand a quick squeeze. Expecting nothing as he let his head fall. But then there was a squeeze back.
"Hey Comrade." Said a grogy sweet voice he had missed. He jerked his head up to see Rose staring at him lovingly.
"Roza?... Oh my Roza." He said hugging getting up and hugging her tight. He didn't want to let go. But he did pull back to look at her. She was so beautiful.
"Where's Lissa?" Rose asked. Dimitri just realized he probably should've call the Queen to let her know that her best friend was awake.
Dimitri pulled out his phone and dialed Christian.
"Hello?" Christian said. Normally Dimitri called Lissa but... He had plans.
"I need you to come down to the hospital right now. Bring Vasalissa." Then be hung up.
Rose gave Dimitri a look but didn't ask what he was doing. They started to talk about simple things. Like whether or not there were new council members, changes to Guardian staff. But then Lissa came bursting into the room with Christian on her heels.
"Wha-" Lissa stopped, and took in her surroundings.
"Rose..." She said then she ran to hug her...more like waddled actually.
"Ompf!" Rose said feeling the impact of Lissa's baby bump. They hugged for a few seconds then Lissa pulled away finally letting Rose breathe.
"You're okay!" She said. Rose saw the tears on Lissa's face.
Everyone started talking. Lissa sat on the end of Rose's bed Dimitri sat in a chair holding her hand. Christian stood off to the side mainly just listening but throwing in a few jokes here and there.
"So Lissa, when's the baby due?" Rose asked. Smiling from ear to ear. Lissa jumped up to stand by Christian.
"About 4 months!" She said still smiling. Rose stood up.
"Well let's figure out how soon I get out of here and we can celebrate!"
A few hours later they were leaving the hospital with Rose.
