It had been 2 years since the accident and Rose was still in a coma. Lissa was 5 months pregnant with her's and Christians daughter. Dimitri was happy for them. He wished Rose was here to share in the joy. He rarely visited her anymore.
He was quietly following behind Lissa and Christian as they walked through the garden. Lissa had an army of Guardians following. Security had been raised due to an attempted strigoi attack two weeks ago. Lissa and Christian had been visiting St. Vladimirs Academy. It had been right around the same place they had been attacked when Rose sacrificed herself.
That was the last time Dimitri had visited Rose. His thoughts drifted to ideas of Rose. Wondering what their life would be like if she was here. His phone buzzing brought him back to reality. He looked down at the screen. It was the hospital. He had saved them as a contact because of how frequently they called about Rose flat linning.
He picked up the phone.
"Yes?" He asked. Expecting to hear the usual message.
"Hello this Dr.Forsman. I'm calling to let you know that Guardian Hathaway has woken up from her coma." The doctor said. Dimitri almost dropped his phone.
Rose was awake.
"...Can...Can I come see her?" He asked.
"Of course." Dr.Forsman said.
Dimitri hung up and walked over to Lissa.
"Your Majesty...Rose is awake." He said abruptly. "We can go see her now." Lissa began to smile. "Let's go!" She squealed. They all made their way to the hospital. All of them excited to see Rose again. They walked down the halls to the back of the hospital where they had moved Rose to. A doctor and a nurse were talking in hushed voices out side her room.
Dimitri had just put his hand on the doorknob when the nurse spoke.
"Sir she may not be ready for visitors yet." The nurse said. Dimitri barely hesitated but he wished he had. He walked into Rose's room and was stopped in his tracks.
The few chairs that were in the room were turned over and spread out through the room. The curtains on the windows were closed making the room fairly dark. Rose paced back in forth in the darkest area of the room. She had her hands clasped behind her head. She seemed to be mumbling to herself. A small trail of blood dripped down her arm on to the floor. It looked like she had ripped out her IV.
Dimitri quietly made his away into the room, Lissa and Christian following behind him. He wanted to make his way to Rose but was to scared to. He thought he had been scared when she was unconscious in the car but now... He wouldn't have been able to express how scared he was in words if someone asked him to.
Rose didn't notice them. She just kept pacing back and forth mumbling to herself until she heard her name.
"Rose?" Dimitris voice called. She stopped walking. She was faced away from him.
"They shouldn't have let me live...I'm supposed to be dead...dead, dead, DEAD!" Her shouting caused Lissa to jump. Rose didn't care. The spirits were mad at her. She had resisted death to long.
She felt someone grab her shoulder, and turn her around. Dimitri.
"You need to sit down. Your not well." He said. Dimitri moved Rose to the bed and sat her down. Her legs dangled off. Dimitri pulled up a chair and sat across from her.
"Rose...are you okay?" He asked. Rose didn't move.
Dimitri looked up at Lissa and Christian. He gave them a look that said let me talk to her alone. Christian seemed to get it and pulled Lissa out of the room and closed the door.
