The four demigods had been hiding behind a broken wall hoping to hide from the creature's view. Though they knew that it wasn't going to keep them safe for long they would have to fight it sooner or later. Anything that could help them complete their quest.

"Okay, any ideas?" questioned Dean as he looked at his comrades.

"Well we need to chop the head off," Annabeth stated. "Dean, Percy, can you please put aside your differences and work together?"

"Well what do you say Dean the fate of our entire kind is at stake?" Percy asked as he held out his hand to Dean. Dean thought briefly but knew what the right thing to do was, he took Percy's hand and shook it creating a brief truce between the two of them.

"They may not be enough, we have to keep the Cocktrice distracted, Annabeth come with me," Sam said to his sister.

"Are you using my girlfriend as bait?" Percy asked.

"No, we need to make sure that the Cocktrice doesn't see you," Sam answered. Annabeth looked over at Sam with a smirk on her face.

"I see where you're getting at," Annabeth said as she turned to her boyfriend and Dean. "Percy, Dean, Sam and I will distract the cockatrice enough so you two can kill it,"

"No forget it,'' Dean said he did not like the plan at all. He wasn't about to put Sam's life on the line, not since he had spent most of his life trying to protect him.

"Dean, we really don't have time to debate this," Sam said to him. "I know you want to protect me but we have the whole world to think about, and I promise I'll be fine," Dean was about to protest more when Sam and Annabeth had already stepped out from behind the wall. They had to avoid looking at the cockatrice so they wouldn't be turned to stone.

"Hey ugly!" Annabeth called out. "What's wrong with your face? Did you not get your morning seeds?!" Annabeth ducked behind one of the trees as the cockatrice turned around. Dean looked at Percy and nodded his head. Pulling a pen out of his pocket, Percy clicked it and it grew into a sword with the symbol of poseidon carved into part of the blade. Dean had summoned his own sword ready to attack. With the monster distracted Dean and Percy went against the creature avoiding it's gaze for as long as they could.

"Come on you chicken, come and get me!" Sam called out so that the creature wouldn't see Dean or Percy. The Cocktrice gave Sam a hard stare but the demigod didn't look at it, so he didn't become a statue. Just then before the creature could run after Sam, Dean and Percy chopped it's head off and it's serpent body dropped dead.

"Ugh that is gross," Percy said, being a bit disgusted by the color of the creature's green blood.

"Ditto," Sam said, also disgusted at the scene. It's not like he hadn't seen a beheading before but this was a lot different. Dean jumped down from the creature's dead body and went over to Sam.

"I've seen a lot of disgusting things but this does not even begin to go higher on the list," Dean responded as the sun began to set upon the horizon. Annabeth cleared her throat and turned toward the rest of her fellow questers.

"Okay, let's burn this creature and get settled in for the night," Annabeth suggested as the group started to burn the creature's remains. While Annabeth and Percy were used to this sort of thing, Sam and Dean were still getting over the fact that they weren't siblings after all. The sun had already set as the group had made camp for the night. Even though the fire from the monster had died down, they had made a small campfire to keep themselves warm. The fire shone over the Winchester's face as Percy and Annabeth had already fallen asleep.

"I take it you can't sleep either," Sam said.

"Is it that obvious?" Dean asked as he looked over at Sam. "Everything happened so fast we barely had a chance to breathe,"
