You can do this. It's almost over. Now where the fuck is she?!

Lynx Bartley, aka Lynne, was one of two people left in the arena. The 72nd Hunger Games was brutal. Now, Lynne had to end it, and it would not be easy. As far as she knew, the other tribute was in perfect health. Raven Lightson, of District 2, was eagerly waiting to pounce on the red haired girl, and become a victor. She was waiting in the trees, hidden from Lynx's sight. Raven thought she already won, the young girl from District 4 seemed helpless. However, this was all a part of Lynne's plan. She would play dumb until Raven's hiding spot was discovered. As soon as she spots Raven she would hold her down in the lake. The shallow lake wasn't just any lake though. Of course the Capital had to spice things up a bit. One touch to the dark, mysterious, waters and you would be in excruciating pain. Burns and rashes would form wherever the water collided with you. This lake of pain is the main idea in Lynne's plan. Raven will be in too much pain to fight back against her.

Holy shit I actually found her. I could win this! I could go home.

Not too long after Lynne spotted Raven, they made eye contact. Lynne felt like everything went into slow motion. Her blue eyes meeting Raven's brown ones, had sent her into shock. The girl from District 2 sprinted towards her. Lynne didn't move a muscle.

What the fuck is wrong with you?! MOVE

Lynx's body moved, but something was off. It was like she was suddenly possessed by a spirit. Her actions were exact and she executed the plan perfectly, but it felt like someone completely different had took her over. Until she saw the girl struggling to get out of the water. Lynne had been thrown back into reality, her breathing picked up and tears ran down her cheeks. She couldn't do this. This is crazy! The capital is crazy! Lynx wanted so badly to stop restraining the girl she hardly knew, and fight against the capital, but it was no use. She couldn't do it all by herself. Then Raven's splashing slowed. Lynne still held on though, gasping for air. She thought she was so selfish... To be gasping for air and struggling to breathe, when the girl right in front of her had no air left.

Get a hold of yourself

The all too familiar BOOM rang in her ears. She slowly let go of the girl and watched as her lifeless body floated on the surface of the lake.

"Congratulations. You, Lynx Bartley from District 4, are the 72nd victor of the Hunger Games"

~Three months after the 72nd Hunger Games~

Lynx woke up screaming in terror. Ever since the games, the same nightmare has been recurring. The murder of Raven Lightson has really taken a toll on her. Her thoughts were interrupted by her brother, Milo, walking over to her bed. They shared a room because they were close in age.

"Same nightmare again?", he asked with a look of concern in his eyes.

"Yeah... sorry I woke you up."

"It's fine. I need to get up and go to work anyway."

Although her family didn't need to work, they did. Lynne's winnings from the games would last a lifetime. The family though, needed to be occupied, so their thoughts wouldn't eat them alive. Lynx wasn't the only one affected by the Hunger Games she was apart of. Her dad and two little brothers couldn't sleep while their family member was stuck in that arena of horrors. They all sat at the edge of their seats, hoping and praying that the only girl left in their family, would come home safely. Not only that, but they had to watch her struggle in the games as well. The Hunger Games were broadcasted in every house, district square, and capital building. There was no way to escape it. Well, other than working. Which is why Milo and his sister got ready to face another day of completing their daily tasks.

When Lynne was ready, she walked to the small, but crowded, town with her two brothers. Milo broke away from the two, too go to the warehouse. He welded anchors, spears, and tridents there. Lynne, on the other hand, taught little kids to swim, fish, tie ropes, and she would assign them jobs they were best at. She liked her job for the most part. She got to work next to her best friend, Finnick. He fishes next to the kids and sometimes the two got to talk. Anyway, Ty was finally of age to start learning to fish, so he followed his older sister to the docks. They reached the swarm of 7 year olds and got to work.

"How's Ty?" Finnick said, looking at Lynne from where he was sitting. She sat with him on the damp ground, under the trees.

"I think he's doing alright. He did great today, fishing" she replied. They had bread and unsurprisingly, fish. They shared the food, while talking in a secluded part of town. There was a beautiful view of a large pond in front of them. The sun glistened on the water, the ripples making it shine brighter. They found this hideout, when they were young. Ever since, they met up together in this same spot when they wanted to talk or have meals.

"Tell him happy birthday for me, will you?" he asked kindly. Lynn nodded.

"Are you okay?" Finnick asked with a slight sound of concern in his voice.

Well about that... today was Ty's birthday. Which is great, but also terrible at the same time. It's an anniversary of a tragedy actually. Lynne's mother passed away during childbirth. Lynne loved Ty more than anything, but his birthday always reminded her of the look on her mom's face when she took her last breathe.

A tear fell down Lynx's cheek, and she leaned her head on Finnick's shoulder.

"I know. I'm sorry Lynne, stupid question. I know you miss her. I do too. Wanna let it all out?" he said pointing to the pond in front of them.

When Lynne's mother died Finnick was there for her. He still is, and will always be. That day she died, he brought her out to this pond. He walked into the waters with her until they were in the middle of it, waist deep. Finnick yelled as loud as he could, which scared Lynne at first, but then she caught on. The girl let out all her emotions in one long, painful scream. The feelings and thoughts she was having were collected by the water. Sometimes, things just need to be let out, and Finnick knew just how to help with that. Lynne was grateful to have him around. They both knew how to help each other when they needed it.

Even though his cocky personality didn't show it, Finnick really knew how to comfort and help people. Especially Lynne, he has always had a soft spot for her. Ever since they met.

"Lets go" Lynx said while grabbing Finnick's hand and leading him out to the pond.
