^ This chapter takes place 30 minutes after the events of the last chapter^

*Louis' pov*

'Finally!' I think as we reach the spot marked on the map. It looks like the rest of the forest, nothing really interesting and everything is dead, but one thing does stick out. A tree. Of course it probably shouldn't stick out or be interesting, we are in a forest after all, but this one looks different from the others. It's less dark, definitely still dead, and isn't as thin and twisty as the rest. 'hmmm...' I think as I take note of Della and Scrooge working to remove some downed tree branches and vines that seemed to be in the way. After minute or 2 Della pulls up a vine that is connected to what looks to be a trapped door. "Found it!" She says proudly as she sets the door as far back as it will allow. The hinges creek loudly, causing everyone else to cover their ears. I've gotten use to loud and annoying sounds like that because I use them if I need a distraction when we're heisting, but I was also distracted looking at the now exposed underside of the door. It had a quite detailed carving or maybe painting(?) of a tree with grass. "Maybe it's supposed to be the tree above the door? It does look quite out of place...." I think, or so I thought. "What was that Louie... Louis?" Huey says being the closes to me. "Nothing just thinking out loud. Apparently...." I say the last part under my breath, looking up to see him shrug and walk over to the others by the door. Carelessly, Della and Webby start walking down the stairs, the others not far behind. As I get closer I notice a small lever and pulley system set up on the under side of the door, practically invisible to the untrained eye. Lucky me though I have trained eyes and quickly notice it leading to the last step. "Stop." I say, a dead tone but still loud. "Why?" Lena says, a clearly suspicious look on her face. I reach into my backpack as I start to explain the obvious. "Lever and pulley system set up to latch the door behind us, last step is the trigger." I say, retrieving a small black box with a white button. Opon first look it's nothing special but that's just Avery's genius, it's a device meant to withstand high amounts of pressure, meaning it can hold open trapped doors. "What is that?" Webby asked as I placed it on the ground under the trapped door. "Little device that will keep the door from closing even if the trap is triggered." I respond flatly, honestly not paying to much attention. "Well let's continue now!" Dewey says, already triggering traps. 'This should be a fucking blast!' I think as I walk behind the group, might as well let them set off the traps.

*Goldie's pov*

'Welp here we are!' I think as I reach an odd looking tree, well odd for this forest anyway. 'This tree definitely doesn't belong here...' I thought as I start picking up branches and vines. "Either I beat Sharpie or there's more than one way in.... Should keep my gard up high just in case it's the latter." I whisper to myself, just thinking out loud, as I find a vine attached to a door. 'Bingo!' I think as I carefully pull the door open. As I open it I see an odd carving on the inside, one I had it open I took a closer look. It was the tree above it, no doubt about it, but it looked much more dead in real life. 'The tree must have some kind of meaning...' I think as something slightly shinny caught my eye. 'Ohhh this should be fun!' I thought as I followed the string down the last step, purposefully skipping it.

*Louis' pov* ^ X amount of time later ^

'Fucking really! All that, arrows that can sense body heat, holes in the floor covered by a thin illusion, venomous snakes, FuCkInG zOmBiE sKeLeToNs! Just for everyone EXCEPT ME to get caught by a vengeful spirit! FUCKING REALLY!' I think dodging yet another attack from Alex, the other yelling useless advice at me. 'You're an O'gilt, talk your fucking way out of it!' "Alex! Is this what SHE would have wanted!" I quickly yell, getting him to stop attacking. Lucky while I was out in town I picked up a few book about Alex and Alice, so I had the perfect drawing of her. Reaching into my inside pocket I pulled out a folded piece of paper, holding it out for, the now much calmer, spirit to take. He lets everyone go, dropped them much to my pleasure, and because a much smaller version of what he was. Taking the paper from me carefully he unfolds it and starts to stare blankly at it. 'And I've won!' I think as he looks up at me, pushing everyone else behind me. "You're right, she wouldn't like this." He said, his voice low and echoing. "I think it's time I leave this place, but first." He starts again, picking up the soul stone, not setting off any traps. "I believe this may be kept safe with you, you have come along way and learned a lot." He said handing me the stone, or at least trying to. Of Fucking course mister money bags just has to try to stop him. I hear a sizzling sound and a low hiss of pain as scrooge backs up holding his hand. "You have done nothing but disrespect my temple and me, you will not be able to touch this stone until you are deemed worthy by it's new owner. Louis O'gilt." Oh, oh this is good, he's never gonna touch this thing! Alex hands it over to me and, with a soft smile and the picture still in his hands, starts fading away. An honestly fitting ending if I do say so myself, a fellow heister put to rest and everyone I don't like mildly hurt or upset, seeing mom will be the best end to this!

*Goldie's pov*

'Well that was fun!' I think as I slide down a tunnel and land on my feet. 'Oh my heisting gods!' I think as I look at the beautiful stuff in front of me, all it looks like I could make it seem expensive if it isn't already. Finding the most expensive looking items, I hear a lot of commotion on the other side of a thick wall, probably scrooge and the others. 'I'll wait for the noise to stop so I can at least see if Sharpie is alright.' I think, quickly switching from heister to mom then to heister mom as I listen and pick up stuff. "Lou is an O'gilt, he'll talk his way out of this." I say to myself, not really noticing I said it out loud. 'The perfect end to this heist will be seeing my son and partner in crime!'
