TWO

nini and gina head to their lockers to grab their belongings for their next class, which just so happens to be the only class that nini has with ricky. "see you in class, roberts." he comes up behind the two girls. nini rolls her eyes and turns to look at the boy.

"i am sooo excited." nini sarcastically says. "surprised you are even showing up to class, bowen." she slams her locker making gina jump, which makes her yelp quietly. nini crosses her arms across her body as she looks ricky up and down. 

"what do you mean, roberts? i am always in class." he bites back at her. "rumour has it that we are starting a new project, let's hope i am your partner." he winks at her. 

"in your dreams, bowen." she scoffs as she starts to walk away with gina at her side, who is just casually watching this whole conversation go down. 

"see you in class, nina." she rolls her eyes once again.

"i actually despise that boy." nini says to gina as they both strut off to their class, leaving ricky in the dust behind them. gina looks at the girl incredulously. "don't give me that look, gina." gina laughs at nini's annoyance. 

"there is just something between you two that i can't put my finger on."

"that's because there is nothing to put your finger on, miss gina porter." nini points her finger at  her best friend, while she hums in disagreement. the girls make their way to their designated seats in their biology class, which in fact happen to be the seats that are the furtherest away from ricky.

the door busts open one last time right before the bell rings revealing ricky. the two catch eye contact. one of them rolls their eyes while the other one winks. you can imagine what one did which. 

"will he ever stop being annoying and disruptive and frustrating," nini gives her undivided attention back too gina. "i am literally on my last straw with him." she taps her pen on the desk making a very irritating sound. gina snatches the pen out of her hand causing her to whine. 

"will you ever stop talking about him? you were the one yesterday saying how not obsessed you are with him, yet i am getting mixed signals here." gina stares at the girl who doesn't dare look at her. nini's lips are pressed together as she tries not to argue with gina.

"shut up." nini bluntly says, gina chuckles at her. "if class were not starting i would be continuing this argument."

"you are so stubborn, miss salazar-roberts."

"i know." nini beams her a huge smile back at her. "it's a good trait to have, miss porter."

claps from mr. miller can be heard echoing thought-out the classroom, trying to gather everyone's attention. nini looks in the direction in which ricky is sitting in and it just so happens that he is staring right at her. their eyes meet and ricky blows her a kiss. nini shakes her head, focussing on her teacher again. 

nini's phone vibrates in her pocket, so she slowly proceeds to slip it out of her pocket. 

"okay class!" mr. miller shouts, hoping to gather everyone's attention, failing miserably. "we are going to be starting an assignment that requires you to pick a species to do a fully study on." some of my classmates groan. personally, i think it would be a fun project. "you will be placed in to pairs, which i have assigned myself!" the class complains even more.

mr. miller starts to call out the partner list, listing out peoples names. gina's name already gets called, so i start to search the classroom to find someone else who i would be willing to do this assignment with. 

"nina and richard!" nini's breath hitches. i lied. this isn't going to be a fun project. the girls head slowly turns back into ricky's direction to see a smirk plastered on his face. her head falls into her hands, knowing that cannot stand this human no longer. 

as soon as mr. miller finishes reading out his list, he explains that we will have to sit with our partners in class for the duration of this assignment, making nini want to drop out school even more. once he finishes speaking, the girl immediately get out of my seat to protest against  what has just occurred. 

"mr. miller, i am sorry but i cannot do this assignment with richard." nini pleads. "you do not understand, i will end up in a therapist's office each week because of this boy."

"i am sorry, miss nina, i cannot change this list now as it would be unfair to the rest of your classmates." the angered girl shuts her eyes as she turns to the class, opening them to see ricky staring right at her with an unoccupied seat planted next to him. 

nini hesitantly walks through the rows of desks filled with students chattering about the assignment. nini searches for gina in the crowd, catching her with a huge smile on her face. nini secretly flips her off from the other side of the classroom. 

 nini slowly slips her self into the seat next to ricky, immediately folding her arms across her chest. "would you look at that," the boy grins. "luck must be on my side today." he happily says. 

"look, richard," she turns to look at him, a smirk still plastered to his face. "i need a good grade on this assignment, so if you want me to do all the work then tell me right now because i am not dealing with your shit."

"oh, nina, of course i want to help you with this assignment." ricky sarcastically says. "how mean would it be of me if i didn't help." 

"hasn't stopped you being mean before." she mutters under her breath, while avoiding any eye contact. 

"so, what species are we picking roberts?"
