"look, ricky," momma d started. ricky and nini sat on the living room couch opposite from momma d and momma c who had now joined the conversation. nini's head hung low, already knowing that ricky was about to get the 'get out, nini isn't allowed a boyfriend' talk. "i'm sure your a nice boy, but-"
"mom, please," nini groaned, cutting her off. "i'm eighteen! why can i not have a boyfriend!" her eyes meet with her two mothers, while ricky sat very awkwardly.
at this moment in time, he was extremely grateful for his situation at home. freedom was something that he thought every teenager had in their high-school career. he also realised that nini was excellent at hiding her emotions when at school. never in a million years did ricky think that her social life was restricted because of her moms. he thought that maybe she was taking all her anger out on him.
"nina," momma c speaking up for the first time. "maybe we should talk about this when ricky isn't here." she was trying to bargain and nini wasn't having a bar of it. she turned to the boy who was already looking at her. she immediately turned back to her moms.
"please, moms." her voice cracked.
"ricky, it's getting late, it's probably best you leave." dana sighed, getting up to escort ricky out. ricky nodded slowly also getting up from his seat. nini also quickly got up from her seat.
"i'll walk him out." she grabbed ricky's arm, basically dragging him out of the house like a dog on a leash. the girl huffed in annoyance, slamming the front door as the pair walked to ricky's car. his eyes widened at her aggressive actions. they reached his car that was parked on the side of the road. ricky leaned up against the side of it, nini facing him with her back to her house. "guess i'll go back in and sort this out." she rolled her eyes, folding her arms across her chest. ricky looked down at the girl due to their height difference.
his eye's flicked up to look back at the house, seeing one of her moms peeking through the living room curtains. "your mom is looking at us." his eyes flickering back down to the girl who was kicking a stone on the ground.
"of course she is," she whispered, a tired sigh escaping her mouth. an idea popped in to her head. i've already gone against their rules tonight, why not go even further, nini thought. "kiss me." her eyes met his own. the curled-hair boy stood in silence, his mouth gaped open, eyebrows furrowed. "i've already pissed them off, why don't i keep going?" nini said, boldly wrapping her arms around his neck.
"uh, nini," his eyes dancing between the girl and her mom who stood at the window, still watching every move they made. "i don't think that's a good idea." he stammered. he could basically feel nini's breath on his face. his heart was pounding like it was trying to escape his body.
"why not, bowen? she stood up on her tip toes so her mouth was close to his ear. "are you scared to kiss me?" of course ricky has had his fair share of random hook-ups with random girls at party, but it was something about his enemy, or new friend of only a couple days kissing him while her strict parents watched them from the window.
her fingers were fiddling with the curls that laid on his neck. the two of them could hardly see each others faces due to it being 10pm, but they both knew that they were staring at each other. "nini, are you sure about this?" ricky questioned, making it very clear to nini that he was scared. his rapid breathing also confirming this.
"you are my boyfriend, right?" she smirked, earning a low chuckle from the boy. after a few more seconds of contemplation, he finally snaked his hands around her small waist. nini couldn't lie, she was also scared at what the consequences may be when she walks back into her home after kissing a boy in front of her parents. "hurry up, we don't have all day." was nini's last words before ricky's lips met her own.
their lips were warm against each other, considering the fact that everything around them was cold. ricky's grasp around her waist got stronger as their lips continued to move in sync. their minds were racing at what they were experiencing with each other in this moment in time.
for what felt the longest 5 seconds of their lives, nini was the first to pull away. the two caught their breath, not taking their eyes off each other. the same thoughts were swimming around in their minds; did i really just do that? nini took a step back, unclasping her hands from the back of his neck.
"goodnight, bowen." she walked backwards a few steps, the both of them lazily smiling at each other in disbelief. she did a 180 on her heels, watching her mom disappear behind the curtains. ricky was still stood leaning up against his car, watching the girl vanish back into her home.
