Chapter 387

Matt's POV: After driving home and parking in the driveway, I watched as Gabby got out of the car. "I promise, I will be two minutes." I nodded and agreed with her. "Just breathe and go get him Gabby. We are going right to the hospital...I promise." She nodded and agreed with me when I said that. Walking up to the house, she went to get Gabriel so that we could take him to the hospital. Meanwhile, I went to call Antonio so that I could get him to join us at the hospital. Already seeing how worried Gabby was, I knew that I needed him at the hospital. Calling him, I just hoped that he wasn't working right now.

A: Detective Dawson
M: It's Matt. Listen, can you get off for a bit?
A: Everything okay Matt?
M: (Sighs) Gabriel has a temperature of 101.9. We're going to the hospital.
A: Oh, you guys need me to watch the kids?
M: No, my sister has that. She was here last night. Want to join us at the hospital?

A: Sure, of course. I know why you are asking. She's really worried isn't she?
M: We both are. Man, he's a month old and this is his first fever. Can you...
A: Hey, of course. I am on my way. Who am I concentrating on?
M: Can we talk at the hospital?
A: Sure, after I speak to my sister okay?
M: She's on her way into the car right now.

Opening the door to the back, I watched as Gabby put Gabriel in the back along with the diaper bag. "Did Christie have it all ready for us?" Gabby nodded as she got back into the card. "Sorry it took so long. Had to double check I had his health card and stuff. I also had to talk to Matteo. He's pissed that we are leaving again already. So, I had to take a minute to calm him down. I gave him a cookie to end the tantrum. Sorry about that. I know it's not a good idea but..." Grabbing her hand, I went to rub it to calm her down.

A: Gabby, you do whatever you can to get him to calm him down okay? 
G: Oh, I didn't even realize that you were on. How are you brother?
A: On my way to the hospital. I am coming to give you guys moral support.
G: Oh thank god, I am not sure if I am going to be able to concentrate.
M: Exactly why I am calling him. Now, is Sylvie joining you?
A: I am not sure. She's still technically on bedrest. Maybe later?
G: That works. Matt, just drive okay? I am going to talk to my brother.

I laughed when she said that before turning onto the main road that led from our home to the hospital (and the firehouse). "Okay, can you please tell me what is so funny?" I sighed when she said that. "I can talk and drive at the same time. I am an expert when it comes to that. Remember when we were in Puerto Rico? You were saying we were going the wrong way to a house when I had it in the GPS. Gabby, it was my first time driving in a Jeep on the island. I had a great conversation with you and we didn't even crash."

A: Whatever. Dude, just concentrate on driving. I would rather only go to the hospital for moral support right now. Not interested in going to see Gabby there.
M: I get it okay man. So that means that you are on your way?
A: Just have to tell Sylvie I am going. Hey babe, I am going to give Gabby moral support.
S: She okay?

It sounded like Sylvie just woke up from a nap when she said that. So, we weren't going to say anything and just let Antonio talk to her while we kept driving to the hospital

A: Gabriel has a temperature of 101.9. They are on their way to the hospital.
S: Oh god, she on the phone? Here, let me talk to her! 
A: Here, she's on speaker now. 
S: Gabby, Matt. I just heard. How are you guys?
G: Worried. I am just glad we are going to the hospital. They are going to be able to help.
A: This is just not your time is it guys? You guys need like I longer time off.

M: We'll see about that. Right now, I am just thinking about Gabriel right now.
A: Hey, of course you are. Now, I am going to be there soon. Just stay calm.
G: You know, saying that repeatedly really doesn't help someone with Anxiety stay calm!
M: (Goes to grab her hand) Just relax okay Gabby, we are on our way right now.
G: (Nodded and agrees) Listen Antonio, I am going to do breathing, talk later.
A: Of course, stay calm and be here soon okay guys?

"See you soon Antonio." I then went to hang up and just held Gabby's hand as we drove to the hospital together. "I am sure that he is going to be fine. Now listen, I am just going to drop you off at the front okay? You go in and I will park. Then, I will come find you guys in the ER." Gabby nodded and agreed with me when I said that. "Good idea." I then went to rub her hand, knowing she was really worried. However, I was also trying to hide how worried I was.
