Matt's POV: After watching the latest Dateline, I was currently in the midst of holding Gabby in my arms while looking at Matteo. He ended up falling asleep just like Gabby and the babies. With everybody asleep but me, I just smiled and rubbed Gabby's arm as I made sure that she stayed asleep. I also thought about falling asleep myself but, I was enjoying the sight of my entire family asleep on the bed with me to fall asleep. However, what I did decide to do was turn off my lamp and grab my phone. Putting my AirPods in, I went to listen to my e-mails on my phone.
That's when I heard an e-mail that infuriated me. The title of the e-mail...Petition to remove Matthew Casey as Chief of Firehouse 51. I then decided to grab my phone and went to read the e-mail myself. The reason why? Because I was no longer an officer when hired and because I was no longer a firefighter...instead, I was a paramedic. Going to read it, I went to see that there were names on there from my firehouse. Most importantly Mike Doherty and Clarence Norwood. They were from the other shift. But still, they must've known that Boden put it in his will.
I then decided to look at Gabby so that I could get up. "Hey Gabby, I have to get up." Gabby then looked up at me. "Oh sorry, did I fall asleep?" I nodded and went to kiss her forehead. "Yeah but, I need to go to the firehouse for a bit. I was listening to my e-mails and saw this." Gabby then looked at my phone and read the peitition. "What? This is ridiculous." I nodded and agreed with her. "We don't have shift today or tomorrow but...I want to have a firehouse-wide staff meeting. I am going to call it. Do you mind if I go for a while?" Gabby nodded as she looked at me.
"Hey, of course. Want some help?" I nodded. "Can you get my outfit out? I have to call Hermann and Severide. Then, they can work the firehouse contacts and get everybody there at the same time." Gabby nodded as I let her go. "Sorry if I wake up the kids in advance." Gabby understood. "Go ahead, this is important." I then agreed before going to make a call. However, before I could...Severide called me. Answering it, I went to speak to him. "Hey!"
Matt: Hey, you get the e-mail from Doherty and Norwood?
Severide: Yeah that's actually what I am calling to talk to you about.
Matt: I was about to call you too. I am going to call a meeting at the firehouse.
Severide: You going to stand up to those guys? I mean, they are your men.
Matt: Yeah. Listen, let me get Hermann on the call. I want him there too.
Severide: Of course, go ahead man.
Moving the phone away from my ear, I then went to call Hermann. Hopefully he wasn't working Molly's. But my hopes were dashed when I heard how he answered the phone.
Hermann: Molly's Restaurant, Hermann personal line.
Matt: Hermann, it's Matt. I am going to conference you in with Severide.
Hermann: Everything okay?
Matt: Let's just say that my leadership is being threatened.
Hermann: What are you talking about?
Matt: Check your e-mail from Doherty.
Hermann: Sure thing chief.
Going to merge the two calls, I then went to add Gabby to the call. Seeing me call her, she was shocked. "Why are you calling me?" I then turned to look at her. "Like you don't want to listen in to the call." Gabby laughed when I said that and nodded as I went to add her to the call. Answereing the phone, she then went to start the call.
Gabby: Hey Hermann, Hey Severide.
Severide: Hey Gabby. And shit man, is this legit?
Matt: In my opinion it is. So, I am taking it as a threat towards my leadership.
Hermann: Then what are you going to do?
Gabby: He is going to fight of course. We are not going to let these guys ruin this.
Matt: I agree with Gabby. Listen, call your men and get them to the firehouse in uniform.
Severide: Why exactly in uniform?
Matt: Because that way, we look more professional. And we mean business.
Severide: Sure thing. Plus, it'll look good to have 2 Captains and your Paramedic-in-Chief behind you.
I then thought about that. Turning around to look at Gabby, I smiled. "Do you still have your..." Gabby nodded and went to hang up. "I will call Antonio and tell him to get Sylvie there too. He can watch the kids while you talk to the firehouse." I nodded and agreed with her. "Can you get my uniform out?" Gabby nodded and agreed as she walked away into her closet. Meanwhile, I went to talk to Hermann and Severide again.
Hermann: So, when are we doing this?
Matt: I want Cindy and Lee Henry there too. I want her to say that she trusts me with her son.
Hermann: That's a good idea.
Matt: Also Severide, can you get the Commissioner there. He might be able to help me.
Severide: I will try my best. Now, we doing this in the briefing room?
Matt: We'll figure that out when we are tehre. Now listen, I need to get ready.
Hermann: I promise Matt, we are not going to let you loose your position. Boden's wishes.
Matt: Thanks Hermann. Now I will see you in an hour.
Hanging up, I went to walk away to the bathroom to clean up a bit as I prepared to defend myself against this new attack against my leadership.
