Becca had checked out of the hotel. Brad wasn't there. There was another guy and he gave her 50 dollars back since she had only stayed the one night. Becca had her bag with her that contained her blanket when she went outside to Marjorie's car. It was a four door red car. She opened the door, closed it and put on her seat belt. Marjorie looked at her.

"This is all you have?"

Becca nodded. "Well, and the clothes I'm wearing."

"Wow, okay, well, hold on, my apartment is further in town."

Becca looked out her window as they drove past more restaurants and hotels and finally she was in the suburban area. She saw houses and wondered if Marjorie lived in any of them until she saw apartments and Marjorie turn into one of them. She parked her car and Becca followed her up the stairs. Three flights of then. She could hear Marjorie's sighs after each flight, until they reached the third floor. Marjorie held the door leading to the hallway open for Becca, then let it go after Becca was through. They walked down and Marjorie opened her door. Becca went inside and took off her shoes. They were big for her she realized because after taking the shoes off, her feet felt better. Marjorie closed the door and turned on the light. There was a kitchen ahead of them. Becca could see the dining table. To the right was the hallway where the bedrooms were. Apparently there were two.

"Used to have a roommate but she left. David's been taking her share of the rent, such a sweetie, since he stays over sometimes."

"I can pay you. I have money now."

"I'll tell you what, I will take one hundred dollars, how about that?"

Becca dug into her pocket and gave Marjorie the hundred dollar bill a customer had given her.

"This way if you're here for a month, I can't get mad at you for not finding a job sooner," she giggled. "Anyway, rooms are that way. Your room or I guess the guest room is the one closest to the bathroom. My room is next to it. The bathroom is across from your room. Kitchen down there. Living room, around the kitchen. TV's there. I don't know what else. To be honest, Becca, I'm just so tired."

"Yeah, it's late, we should get to sleep."

"Do you at least have pajamas?"

Becca shook her head.

"Okay, I'll lend you some of mine. They should fit a lot better than those shoes of yours. Speaking of which, we should buy you some soon." Marjorie went to her room and Becca followed her. She saw Marjorie open a drawer, and take out a pair of pajamas. They were orange. "It looks silly, they're my Halloween ones, don't ask, but at least it's better than whatever you were wearing before." She handed the pajamas to Becca.

"Wow, these are great, thank you, Marjorie."
