The air was not breathable anymore. But I had to keep going in order to save her.

The path was blocked by falling beams and the smoke made it hard to see.

Unable to move, I witnessed the light of the flames getting closer. I felt my tears rolling down my cheeks. The smoke tearing up my throat, attacking my lungs.

If this happened after knowing she was safe, I'd accept it. I'd leave knowing that she's out of harm's way.

But I was too late. The house began to collapse, and all I could do was close my eyes as the beams crushed my bones.

In an instant, everything was taken away from me. Yet, I couldn't accept my fate.

I was grateful at the moment, the consequences didn't matter. I needed to get out of here, for her sake.

If I had left, this would never have happened. Yet, I'm glad I didn't.
