Just like that ... You know exactly what you're doing, don't you?

I went quiet, in an attempt to contain my excitement. It was if he was choking me with his eyes ... I smirked quietly to myself when he turned around.

We all headed inside the headmasters office. He was staring outside those giant windows of his, that gave him view of the entire courtyard.

I have taken notes, no mischief in the courtyard. A guarantee to get caught.

"The four lucky students ... Or perhaps unlucky is more fitting considering how you got here", he turned around, elegantly.

Did anyone else think that was a weird way of phrasing it? I looked around, but no one else looked bothered.

"Welcome to the Academy of Magic. Where we offer magic tutoring to the young and old, anyone who has unlocked their magical abilities", the headmaster took a few steps towards us.

He looked rather intimidating, standing there in his red suit, slick back short hair and ... Why are there horns on his head?

We all noticed it at the same time, yet he seemed used to this reaction. "You're thinking about my horns, are you not?", he let out a chuckle.

"Very well, I might as well introduce myself. I am the proud headmaster of this Academy, I too happen to be an immortal, just like all of you", he pressed his lips together.

"Then what's with the horns?", I asked, I could feel Dahlia staring at me. I don't think she likes me being too direct. Oh well, not my problem.

"It's just a sign that I have been alive for a ... Really long time", he looked kind of ... Depressed.

"Normal mages will never in their lifetime be surrounded by enough magic to have their body modified", he tightened his tie.

"People like us, however, have enough time to experience the side effects of being surrounded by magic".

My head was spinning, there was too much information to swallow in one day.

"But don't let me bombard you with information, Scout has probably talked your ears off already", he peeked a look at me.

Did he just ... Read my mind?

I felt a shiver down my spine, I watched the young-looking headmaster take a seat by his desk.

I guess immortaly keeps you young ... At least there is benefits to being cursed.

----

"Do you have any questions that can't wait, or shall we begin your registrations?", I looked at the other three.

No one spoke up. Everyone were probably tired, exhausted and confused...

"You must be exhausted ... I was too, when I first arrived here", he let out a smile. Again ... He did it again.

"Do I have a volunteer? Anyone want to be first?", he asked. I'd prefer it if one of the others went before me, after all ... Three times isn't a coincidence.

To no ones surprise, Kai stepped forward, and took a set in one of the chairs in front of the headmasters desk.

"Excellent", he smiled. "You three can sit down on the couch over there, it won't take long". He was referring to the two couches in the middle of the room.

She was the first to sit down. So I chose to sit down on the empty couch. Then I noticed the sad one sat down next to her.

"Scared I'm going to bite you?", I crossed my arms, "Or do you just prefer brunettes?", his face was blank.
"Please keep quiet", the headmaster scolded me.

That bastard ... Wait I shouldn't say those things. What if he really reads minds?

----

I witnessed him rummaging through one of his drawers, and pulled out a ball of glass.

"What's that?", Kais' voice sounded serious, like always. The headmaster let out a chuckle, "It's an orb. It reads your magical aura", he handed it over to Kai.

"Please hold this for a minute". Kai accepted the orb, and held it tight.

He then lifted up a slightly bigger orb, and began looking through it ... Shortly after, he began to write down on a piece of paper.

"Kai, 19 years of age ... Born on the 11th of April", he muttered to himself.

Kai was quiet, until ... "And that orb let's you see into a person's life?", he asked. The headmaster chuckled once again, "Quite observant of you", he seemed to note that down too.

"It tells me basic information about my students. It's useful for immortals with memory loss and lying pricks who think they can give me a fake name", he smiled, but the smile didn't reach his eyes.

"I see", he began noting down once again. "Please, open your hand. The orb should be done collecting by now", he gave him a smile.

We were all leaning over to see the orb. The once see through glass orb, has transformed into a glowing pink ball.

The headmaster chuckled. "Just what I suspected ... You're a psychic", he began taking notes again.

"What the hell is a psychic?", I asked. The headmaster looked at me, his eyes went dark. Is it because I called him a bastard earlier?

"A psychic is.. in lack of better terms ... A strategist", he paused. "Someone who'd rather orchestrate a fight than participating in it", he smiled.

"Are we going to fight someone?", Dahlias' eyes widened. I started to get excited, until ... "Of course not. It's easier for young people to understand magical groups if we give them examples like a strategist or a fighter", I have never been this disappointed in my life.

"But your teachers are going to explain every spell and what different groups do later", he slowly blinked, and directed his gaze towards Kai once again.

"Now ... For your hidden ability", he chuckled devilishly. He seemed rather annoyed, but he was covering it up. "A mental shield ... How fitting", he muttered.

I couldn't see it properly, but I think I saw Kai ... Smile.

"Because you can't read my thoughts, right?"

It looked like his words punched the air out him.

"What?", they began staring at each other. But Kai didn't respond, and put the orb back on the desk. "You're done filling out that file, correct?", he got up from his chair.

He walked towards us, and sat on the empty spot next to me.

What just ... Happened?
