1.3 | The True Villain

Although the system's role has become more relax and free it's still very responsible and diligent. The first thing it did was analyzing the world its host is in.

[Host, I've gathered all the information and story plot of this world for you. I also scanned Host's body to receive the original's memories. Does Host want to see their memories now?]

"Hmm..." Sheng Yi ignores his system and sat in a thinking posture seemingly very serious.

[Host, is something the matter? Do you need help?]

"What should I call you..."

[...] Is that what's important right now?!

"Oh and stop calling me host. Its annoying."

[What should I call Host then?]

"..."

[...] You don't know?! The system has finally realize its host is beyond strange and there's no saving itself anymore...

"Sheng Yi. An old wandering soul that has gain too much experience and stories to tell."

[Can I ask you a personal question?]

"Go ahead and ask."

[How did you start and why?]

"Hm..."

Sheng Yi stares off into space with nostalgia.

"I did it for my lover..."

[Lover?!] Where does this system even start to begin asking?

"Yeah." He give a nod. A small smile subconsciously appears without him being aware.

[...] The system malfunctions from being attacked. Host... How is your smile so deadly?! Aren't you suppose to be cold and indifferent? You shouldn't know how to smile like that! It makes no sense!

The villain system looks at its host again. This time it couldn't help feeling delighted. From the short time span it had spent with this person, the system knew this is a rare moment to appreciate and record.

[That person must be special...] To make you have that expression of yearning.

"He is."

"I broke many taboos. Fought gods and devils. Destroyed and created many worlds." A smirk appears as he recalls old memories.

"Back then I was reckless and willful. I did everything for myself and then started doing things for him. I didn't let anything ever get in my way..." Sheng Yi stares into his palm with a sad smile that held regret.

"I thought I was strong..."

The system appears in front of Sheng Yi with its animal spirit form to give any sense of comfort.

Sheng Yi clenches his fist and lifts up his head with his eyes close. Memories flash through his mind. His smile still sad but now held mockery. "I was strong."

He slowly opens his eyes and looks at the villain system. His eyes soften like they were about to tear up. "I was strong, but there are always something or someone stronger. At that time, it was too late to regret my life choices. I had already made too many enemies."

"I would've been fine alone, but I finally had a lover... I finally knew what it felt like to care, love, worry, panic... So many different emotions I never felt before meeting him."

Sheng Yi took a moment of silence and sigh. "In the end, to save my lover I erased his memories. As punishment for all my sins, I was forced to scatter my soul while a big portion was left burning in a fire forever."

[Sheng Yi... Did you really erase his memories? Maybe they were locked away and now he's still waiting for your return...]

Sheng Yi shook his head. "I removed them permanently. I knew the possibility and didn't leave any chances of him regaining those memories by just locking them away."

[...] Sheng Yi... You... are too cruel... Emotions well up inside the system. It cried internally for Sheng Yi, but also for his lover. As a villain system, it too has been through a lot and experienced many things. It could only imagine how it truly felt to experience such things...

"Nothing to cry over again. I already cried a long time ago. Besides, I'm determine to get back to him no matter what." A smirk appears on his face again. The heavy sad mood from before lightens up.

"How long have I been wandering? How much progress have I made? I think I'm doing very decent with over half of my soul fragments already gathered."

"When I return, I'll make him fall for me all over again."

[Over half?!]

Thousands of years wandering around millions and billions of worlds and universes might seem like gathering soul fragments are easy, but its not. Not every world or universe is going to have a soul fragment. That's why the journey and task is very tedious.
