"Naam kya hai uska.. Poora naam?" Sidharth asked, pulling out his phone to text Inspector Singh.
"Dhruv Sharma.. Kyu puch raha hai? Rehne de Sidharth..kuch mat kar tu.. Kal mai Academy me complain kar dungi.." Shehnaaz said and strolled towards her night stand to grab her pills as soon as Arohi left the room, it seemed as if she was waiting for her to leave.
He sat on the corner of her bed and saw her doing that, "Tune bola tha.. you've stopped taking them.." he said, just when she was about to pop one in her mouth.
"Sometimes I need them.." she answered, sitting beside him, keeping the tablet back, only for now.
"You think you need them.. Ek baar try kar sone ka.." he suggested.
"Baat sone ki nahi hai! It helps me calm down..okay?" she replied with her voice raised, leaving out a deep breath and looked away.
"Acha.. At least have dinner.." he said.
"Nahi bana hoga dinner.. Mai ghar aake khana banati hu.." she replied, she used to cook after returning from academy and when she was late, the girls used to order food because Arohi was a very poor cook.
"I'll just order something.." she murmured, grabbing her phone.
"Oh shit.. 48 missed calls!" she squeaked, most of them were Sidharth's calls and a few from Ana.
"Ha.. I was calling you.." he said.
"Maine silent kar diya tha.. Shayad hum celebrate kar rahe the tab..& I was looking for.." she stopped midway while recalling something else but ended up coming back to the incident.
"Pata nahi usko mere pe itna gussa kyu aaya.. Mai toh.. Mai sirf baat karne gayi thi usse.. Because he was feeling bad for a stupid reason.. Usko itna gussa kyu aa gaya.. There was no need for him to disrespect me like that.. Varna mai usko thappad nahi marti.." she blabbered, her eyes getting moist again. Sidharth couldn't help but move closer and hold her hand. She was confessing her actions with reasons like an innocent.
"I know! You did the right thing Shehnaaz! Teri koi galti nahi thi baby.." he cooed.
"To mere sath hi aisa kyu hota hai? Why me!!" she asked, maybe to herself. He didn't get that, but before he could ask.
"Just leave it.. I need a drink now!" she announced and walked out of her room to return with an opened bottle of beer.
"Seriously?" he asked, pointing at the bottle. Was it necessary to drown yourself to feel better? Sometimes she behaved as if alcohol was the only solution!
"Shehnaaz.. don't do this to yourself! Tu ye sab karke na.. Khud ko harm kar rahi hai.." he said.
"Please! I just need it.. Meko neend nahi aayegi varna.." She walked past him and took a huge sip, ignoring him. He didn't know it wasn't because of what happened today, there was another story behind it. Another long story. What had happened today had scratched her very old wounds, to freshly bleeding one.
"Lekin ye karne se kya hoga.. Sirf neend aayegi.. Ek raat ke liye bhool jaogi kya hua tha.. But you cannot escape from reality Shehnaaz! Subha uthogi to bhi sach yahi rahega.." he said, sounding a little harsh but he couldn't help that. Drinking was not at all a way to get over what had happened, everything takes time to heal. But she was so stubborn.
"Just shut up!" she spat, "You have no idea what I've been through Sidharth! Escape nahi hai ye.. Majboori hai! Mai thak chuki hu.. Tujhe pata hai do saal..do saal tak neend nahi aayi mujhe..Neend aati thi toh sapne me Ma ka accident dikhta tha humesha.. Varna meri not so real family dikhti thi..!!" she shouted at him, breathing heavily and wiping the tears flowing down her cheeks.
