Flashback: (2017)
Sidharth was assigned to run a medical camp in the outskirts of Mumbai city. As the head, the health professional, he had taken some doctors and some of his hospital staff with him to the slum where they conducted the medical camp. They had to carry out a limited health intervention amongst the underprivileged community. The poor attended these camps to get free check-up and treatment. It was a joint Camp and some experts from Delhi had arrived too. There he met Dr. Bhavya Mehrotra, she was a nephrologist. They were cordial and pretty professional while running health examinations and tests and gradually came closer. Apart from that, both of them enjoyed flirting back and forth. One day, it was raining heavily in the slum. The ill-water management caused floods and panic among the people. The doctors themselves took the responsibility to take the people to the lodge they were staying in. They were helping the rescue team in taking people inside, when suddenly a 5 year old kid fell into the flooded area in the rush. Sidharth had immediately jumped in and pulled him out, his parents panicked when he wasn't in his senses.
"Pagal ho? Tum khud kood gaye?" she shouted at him, flabbergasted.
"Tumhe kuch ho jata toh?" she fearfully added.
"Mujhe kuch nahi hua darling.. Side hato.. That child has swallowed water.." he replied and kneeled down infront of the kid. He liked the way she got worried for him though. He turned the kid's head to the side, to see if water came out of his mouth or nose but it didn't. So he gently pushed the middle of his chest so that the water would spill out, after 30 or so compressions the kid abruptly coughed out water and gained consciousness.
"Finally.." he helped the kid sit up and asked his medical team to look after him. Bhavya was in awe of his selflessness, how he threw his shoes and jumped into the water without giving any second thoughts. Their camp got extended because of the flood and they got to spend more time together. They got to know each other and ended up falling for each other, so even after the camp they were in touch, she moved to Mumbai to make it easier for them. They got habitual of each other after spending the entire day together and they didn't even realise how it had been a year. The problem began when she moved back to Delhi to support her family and asked him to move in with her.
'My parents need me.. Tum chalo na Sid mere sath.. I cannot live without seeing you daily.." she requested for the nth time.
"Try to understand darling.. It's just been a year since my Dad left us.. Mom akeli ho jayengi.." he reasoned why he could not move in with her all the way to Delhi.
She agreed with a heavy heart when he further promised to work on their long distance better. Being a doctor it was difficult for him to take leaves to visit her and spend time with her family. Bhavya was a party animal, a complete extrovert, a social butterfly who had lots of friends and a joint family. She'd have cocktail parties and would dine out frequently with her relatives or family friends. Whereas Sidharth wasn't fond of gatherings that took place every other day. Especially after his father's demise, he was only in touch with his immediate family and close friends, he became quite conservative. She started arguing why couldn't he give her time and atleast appear for a family dinner, he would promise her to show up the next time but that next time came once in a blue moon. He would feel trapped in this Delhi to Mumbai trips to spend time with his mother and girlfriend along with his hospital duties. She'd surprise him with visits and they go out sometimes. She suggested he should ask his mother to shift to Delhi so that their problem was solved but RitaJi didn't agree.
Soon, it was 2 years to their relationship and they had a huge fight. She wanted him to attend her cousin's wedding and he said he wouldn't. Hospital and his own choice was the reason behind the denial, he had expected her to understand this simple fact that he didn't like gatherings. He didn't like her partying with friends, well it was always out of concern that he wanted her to let him know where she was going but she misunderstood it with his doubts and he was tired of her constant complaints and nagging. One thing led to another and both of them lashed out their frustration on eachother, how they haven't been spending time together, being busy with work, being busy with family, being selfish, being careless, being demanding, being Mama's boy, being unnecessarily arrogant, dominating, insecure and hence, they broke up mutually. Saying that they couldn't work out this long distance.
