Sidharth, he was so handsome and tall, his smile was the best, Shehnaaz just could not get him out of her head.
"Mere bare me pucha kya Tiwari ne?" Arohi enquired making faces, she wasn't there when he had paid a visit.
"Nahi toh.." Shehnaaz replied, filling her with the details of their convo, while Arohi nodded, adding tea leaves to the boiling water. They had talked about the household chores last night, Shehnaaz would do the dishes and Arohi would do the laundry and about the food, they'd make it together.
"Bas.. Itna hi bola? Bijli pani?" she asked again.
"Ha.. Bade ache se baat ki unhone.. Tu muh kyun bana rahi hai?" she questioned back.
"Beta tum abhi abhi aayi ho.. Isliye ache lag rahe hai TiwariJi.. Purani ho jao.. Rent ke liye pareshan karega.. No guests.. No parties.. No daru.. 4 mahine se janti hu usko mai.." Arohi ranted.
"Oh.." he seemed a nice guy, but her roommate's expressions were nevertheless irked. "Wait.. Do you drink or not?" Arohi asked.
"Of course I drink.." came the answer.
"Good.. Boyfriend?"
"No.. What about you?"
"Me neither.."
Done with the chit chat and breakfast, the day went on. Shehnaaz scrolled through her calendar, it said she had two interviews the coming Wednesday and Thursday respectively. She prayed to God to ace them like she did for the academy, she needed a job. She had to pay rent in advance and after knowing what kind of person her landlord could turn into, she definitely didn't want to embarrass herself.
Sidharth was on a checkup round, when he was called into the emergency unit. A group of youngsters had crashed their car against a tree, a girl among them was extremely injured. He made his way into the room masking up his face and wearing the surgical gloves on his way, the very first hour after an accident is the most critical, the right treatment could save a life and any carelessness could not. The patient was stabilized for a CT trauma series revealed a series of aortic nerve rupture and her right limbs were broken. The unit prepared for a sternotomy to repair the nerves followed by the orthopedic surgery. It took them more than 4 hours to operate and she survived through successfully.
On his way back home, he kept thinking about the surgery, this was his thing. He was mad at that girl, she was 19 and totally drunk, he felt pity for her parents, who were crying all day.
Post dinner, he was smoking leaning against the metal in his balcony, staring at the sky blankly. Until he felt someone waving at him from the terrace, oh that's Shehnaaz! He waved back, crushing the tip of the almost finished piece. They felt a lack of medium to communicate, she was there in the next building, they definitely won't shout and talk, what now? He waved his hand towards her, asking her if he could join? She wasn't going to deny, after all she had waved first, he calculated. And she did the same.
"Hey!" he greeted as he joined her. He still wasn't over her beautiful and bewitching eyes, small nose and full cheeks. Well, appearance wasn't the best part, her voice had already gained his attention at the very first. And then, her smile.
"Hi.." was his formal look not enough, that he looks so amazing in a basic T-shirt and a pair of shorts?!
"Aaj mausam kitna acha hai na?" she asked, initiating. He hummed as they began lazily walking around. "But yaha ki hawa me vo thand nahi hai.. You know.. Punjab me.. Raat ko aise terrace pe bahut thandi hawa milti hai.." she added.
"Missing Punjab already?" he asked.
"Nahi! I was just saying.." she replied. He nodded.
"So how's Mumbai treating you?" he asked again, he wanted to ask if she was really a student, she could be, she looked hardly 20.
