Chapter 1
Donnie
“What do you mean you’re in Olivine City?” The man on the screen yelled at Donnie. He had just left the Sinnoh region a few days ago and finally came to port in Johto. “You were supposed to come back to Unova!”
The boy sitting in front of the phone kept a blank expression and stared at him. “What’s the big deal? Aren’t I free to go where I want, Bill?”
Bill sighed and massaged his temples. “I suppose, but even so, you could have warned me before you got on the boat. I still can’t believe that you willing did that.” Normally, Donnie would have used another method of transportation. He hated boats. But when he realized that he didn’t have the money for a plane, he decided to live with his fate.
Smirking, Donnie gave Bill an evil stare. “Whoops, guess you’re going to have to tell my grandpa I won’t be home for a while.” He hated telling his grandpa that he wouldn’t be coming home. It often resulted in him yelling at Donnie about needing to see his family more. True, Donnie hadn’t been home since he left for Sinnoh about nine months ago, but that didn’t encourage him to go back to Icurris City.
“Though I’m upset about me landing that job, there is another reason I wanted you to come home.” Bill looked down slightly his voice wavering for a second.
Donnie smiled. “You miss me that much, huh? Or is this just because you are getting tired of having to organize your stuff?” Donnie had helped Bill with his work since he was a kid. Bill had always been like a father to him as his own was gone too often.
Donnie’s partner went up on its back legs to gaze at the phone. “Glaceon!” It cried to the screen. Instantly, Eon and Ion appeared next to Bill and called out to their child.
Bill glanced at his two pokémon. “It seems that these two miss Aurora, just as much as she misses them. They have been even more lonely than usual.”
“What do you mean?” Donnie frowned. “I thought they had one more pup.” Bill shook his head. “You sent that one to another trainer too?” Aurora’s ears went down in saddness. Donnie remembered the day that Bill had given him Aurora. She had been just an Eevee back then though. Bill had told Donnie he had a present for him since he was going to go off on a journey. Donnie had been presented with two Eevee twins and he was offered to take one to be his partner. He had walked up to them excitedly, one of them instantly retreated. The other, however, ran up to him and head-butted him in the shin. It didn’t take much convincing to choose which he wanted. The Eevee had seemed quite pleased with herself for getting a trainer before her sister until the day Donnie was leaving. She had been upset the day after they had left. Donnie knew that she was missing her parents and sister. Donnie called Bill a few days later to ask if Aurora could see her sister, but discovered that she had been sent to another trainer.
Ion and Eon had had another pup roughly seven months ago. Donnie had never seen the Eevee in person but Aurora and her had met over the phone and had grown quite close. Donnie now knew that the two would probably never see each other again. He gently placed a comforting hand on Aurora’s head. “Well where did this one get sent to?”
“Actually, it was sent to Johto,” Aurora’s ears sprung back up and her tail began to wag. “about three months ago. Professor Elm said that the trainer was a bit out of place though, something about him just now starting at the age of sixteen.”
