An American aircraft carrier cruised far from the nearby atoll. The flag on the tall pole in the middle swayed in the wind as the ship slowed to a stop at a small island. A few dozen soliders and scientists walked off the ship with chairs.

Not to far away the residents of the island chain were going through their daily activities, fishing, grabbing food as the children played around them. In the nearby waters was a fishing boat. One out of 100 boats. The fishing vessel was labelled lucky dragon 5 in Japanese. The crew of the boat were hauling off their nets to catch more and more fish.

The scientists were watching a small bunker in the distance on the atoll. Inside the bunker was a hydrogen bomb given the name Castle Bravo. The bomb was supposed to stop at 5 to 6 megatons of tnt, or 5 to 6 million pounds of tnt. The scientists, the smartest people in the world had made a fatal error.

The chemicals inside Castle Bravo would only give it more fuel, 16 million pounds of tnt. Something on the ocean floor could sense what was about to happen. The creatures eyes widened as it swam toward the surface to stop the new threat.

As soon as the creature managed to get its dorsal plates out of the water the bomb exploded. The residents of the island and the crew of the lucky dragon looked toward the explosion in fear.

In the coming months the island would be evacuated and one of the crew of the lucky dragon would be dead and soon after tokyo would be ablaze. The first kaiju was discovered and given the name Gojira. And he was killed by an oxygen destroyer.
