These are crazy days

I'm Sally. Sally Neale. And I tend to spend my weekends, after schools and school holidays with my next door neighbours, Liam and Noel Gallagher. Liams my age and younger by quite a bit than Noel. Their mam also lived there, Peggy. My mam also lived with me but spent a lot of time at her boyfriends house, he lived a couple towns over but she was away a lot, which I liked. We lived in a row of council houses that were all connected together so that made visits really easy.

It was a Friday evening in April but we seemed to be having a mini heat wave, which is great, no school for 2 days anyway. Me and Liam are in our last year, and GCSEs are rolling around fast. I was laying on my pull out bed in my room and watching some crappy game show. 'I need to call Liam.' I thought to myself. I picked up the phone and dialled his number (which I knew by heart) and I heard his phone ringing as both our windows were open. He answered and I put the phone down and leaned out my window to see his one which just on cue, he stuck his head out of. "Hey Sal, what's up?" He called over. "I'm going to get a takeaway, ask your mam if she wants me to bring it over!" He nodded slightly and disappeared into his room again. I could hear the faint sound of him thundering down the stairs and yelling for Peggy to ask about the takeaway. I leaned my hands on the cool windowsill, shut my eyes and took a breath as even though it was warm there was a nice sunset and breeze now. I waited for a few moments until I heard the noise of Liam running up the stairs again and making an appearance out of his window. "Mam said yes! She's gonna pay halves!" He beamed and I laughed at his excitement. "Okay I'll go get it," I chuckled, "do you want to come?" I asked him. "Thought you'd never ask! See ya in a sec..." he continued as he left my view. I shut my window down and threw on one of his jackets that he'd left here one time and didn't ask for back. I automatically stuffed my hands in the pockets and found a receipt, a 10p, a piece of uneaten gum and a lighter. Nice.

I headed out the front door and was met with Liams grinning face, he had a jacket similar to the one I had on. "Haven't seen that in a while. " he laughed, motioning to my jacket. "Welllll... you didn't ask for it back." I commented. We started walking to the kebab shop which wasn't too far away.

We ordered 2 small pizzas, a few kebabs, some chips and 2 bottles of coke. By the time we came out of the kebab shop it had started spitting so we put our hoods up and both carried a plastic bag full of our food and started running back to his place. When we reached his we ran through the front door and chucked our jackets on the stair banisters on the way to the kitchen that was connected to the living room, where Noel was dozing on the sofa and Peggy was putting things away in the kitchen cupboards. "Hiya Peggy, Noel." Noel was silent. "Hello dear, are ya right?" She replied "Yeah fine thanks." I smiled back. "NOEL! WAKE UP YA LAZY BASTARD!" Liam yelled from the kitchen. Noel sat upright with wide eyes.
Everyone was sat down on the settee, I was sandwiched between Liam and Peggy, and Noel was sat on the arm next to Liam. "So Liam, how come your bird has come over for dinner?" Noel piped up, I choked on my dinner and Liam turned to Noel to shove him though Noel kept his balance and just laughed at Liam. His low-set eyebrows going even lower if possible and with a disgruntled expression. I won't lie to you, Liam is really nice, he's sweet, he's gorgeous, he's cool, he swaggers around, he doesn't care what others think of him. He's got that edge that's just attractive. But I wouldn't tell him that, because I've known him for so long and it might ruin the friendship we've built up as we're so close.
And I doubt he likes me in that way, he has quite a cold exterior to most people, and a non-friendly attitude. Of course I'd never experienced that, which is the main reason Noel thinks we have something going on, relationship wise. Once we'd all finished eating Noel took our plates to the kitchen and Liam laid his head down on the arm of the sofa where Noel had been sitting and patted his chest for me to lay my head there. I get a warm feeling every time he shows me affection, because that never seemed to be his thing but I laid on my tummy with my head on his chest and he threw an arm round my shoulders. Noel was sniggering from the kitchen and Peggy was just watching us.
It had reached almost 11pm now and I were getting really tired, Liam had fallen asleep with some of his long hair covering his face and was breathing steadily. The only light was the TV illuminating the living room, kitchen and one side of Liams face. Noel had gone up to bed along with Peggy a while back. 'I ought to try and wake him up..' I thought. I moved some of the hair away from his face and gently shook his shoulder. "Liammm..." I said quietly, "Wake up now, you need to go bed." His eyes opened slightly and he shuffled about a little. "Stay round." He said in a half-asleep voice. There was no reason I couldn't, I'll stay the night. We made our way upstairs and got into Liams single bed, the radio was on really quietly in the background, too quiet to even make out what was on in our sleepy states. We both laid on top of the duvet as the heat was really bad. I took my jeans off, but it was nothing new to either of us, we'd slept in our underwear before. Liam was under me and I was flopped over him ready for a peaceful night of sleep.
