Ashido's story: Can I Trust Them?

The students were transported to an upscale house in the Chiba prefecture. The house was fairly big with more modern aspects on the outside. Ashido stood in front of it with her new foster family, holding onto their hands. She had never been in a house like this before, most of her foster families in the past had lived in apartments. They headed inside, where she was even more surprised.

The genkan had a little hallway attached to it, which had several arches leading into different rooms of the house. Ashido took her shoes off as Tatsuo handed her some slippers that were a few sizes too big for her. After putting them on, she started to wander around the house, looking into each room. Tatsuo and Juwon followed but kept a small distance between themselves and Ashido.

Tatsuo and Juwon eventually were able to lead Ashido to a plain room, with light pink bed sheets on the bed. Soft, off-white walls framed the room and light pink curtains hung from the window.

"We didn't know what you would like, so we went simple for now," Tatsuo explained.

"But you can decorate it however you want," Juwon added with a soft smile.

Ashido stayed silent, unsure if she could even speak. She held her bag closer for comfort.

Over the course of the day, she grew out of her shell. Tatsuo was able to have a conversation with her, with Ashido just nodding along. And Juwon was able to sit down with her and a box of crayons and plan out her future bedroom. The memory faded out with a happy Ashido tucked into her bed, with several new stuffed animals that had been bought just for her.

The abyss welcomed the students back, who could all feel the uneasiness that the younger Ashido held. It was understandable, she had been through so much for a kid, having bounced around several different homes and families.

The next memory swept them into a middle school. A now slightly older Ashido stood against a wall, talking with some other girls from her class. They were all laughing with her, sharing images from their phones. Ashido seemed to fit in just fine with the kids around her.

Kirishima was hanging out with some guys he knew, but he seemed to be looking in the direction of Ashido. Noticing him, Ashido waved at Kirishima before turning back to her friends. The guys around Kirishima eventually pulled him away from the hallways, and that’s when the girls started to ask questions.

“How do you guys know each other?”

“Why did wave at him?”

“What even is his name?”

“Do you like him?

Ashido raised her hands in front of her body to try and calm down the questions. She hadn’t exactly told her friends about how she was adopted.

“Well,” she started out saying, “I knew him from an old neighbor of mine that I would play with as kids. He was friends with them.”

Her friends seemed satisfied with that answer, but still had one left.

“So do you like him?” one of the girls asked.

“Oh, no, I don’t like him any more than a friend. He grew up as, like, a brother to me,” Ashido answered. Her face broke into a mischievous smirk as she lightly poked the girl who had asked. “Why? Do you?”

The group laughed good-naturedly and joked around until the bell rang, signaling to the people in the halls to get to class. Ashido walked with her friend to their classrooms where they continued to talk and laugh quietly to themselves before the teacher came into the room. The memory faded out with Ashido grabbing her books from her bag as the teacher came in and started the lesson.

When the students came back to the abyss, questions started rolling in.

“Why did you lie to them about how you knew Kirishima?” asked Kaminari.

"Middle school shit,” Ashido answered lightly. “No one expects someone popular to be adopted, so Kiri and I agreed to keep our past on the down low back then."

"It was easier that way for us," Kirishima added on.

The final memory started to form, once again putting them at the house. Tatsuo and Juwon were sitting next to Ashido as she opened up the letter from UA. A small device fell onto the coffee table and All Might, in all of his glory, appeared in a hologram.

"Well done, Ashido Mina, you have passed the entrance exam and are welcomed to join UA High School! Your enrollment form is in the envelope. We are excited to see you in class next year. PLUS ULTRA!"

The hologram cut after that, Ashido and her dads staring at where the hologram once projected. Her dads hugged her, as she sat in shock.

"I'm going to UA," she said in disbelief.

"Yes you are! I am so proud of you, my little butterfly," Juwon replied, kissing her forehead.

Ashido broke out into a big smile, hugging her dads back. The memory faded to black, as the students started to wake up.

AN: so sorry about the long wait, it was a mixture of both me and my beta reader being busy with school. The next update should be out soon.
