The final bell rang, signaling that the school day was over. Class 1-A packed up their bags and headed back to Heights Alliance. No one really said a word as they walked absentmindedly, lost in thought as they pondered what their teacher had said during homeroom.
Once they got to the dorms, they all split off into their respective, unofficial groups. The Izucrew had stolen Shinso and were sitting on the couch watching the chaos of the Bakusquad playing Mario Kart, which Kaminari had brought with him from home. Bakugo looked ready to murder the next person who blue shelled him as Mina cackled from her spot on the floor. Sato, Koda, Aoyama, Shoji, and Tokoyami had taken over the kitchen as Sato was baking and Tokoyami liked perching on top of the fridge.
Looking around, Yaoyorozu seemed to be the only one who noticed these small groups and the only one who realized why they were assigned the new exercise: everyone here stayed within their own friend circle. She herself hardly knew anything about the Bakusquad, Shoji was a complete mystery to her, and Koda and Tokoyami were so closed off, she couldn't remember the last time they had a conversation outside of school work.
With a finality in her movements, she took a deep breath and decided to speak up.
"Can't you guys see this?"
Everyone abruptly stopped and looked at her, dropping whatever they were doing.
"Uh, see what exactly?" Kaminari spoke up, "What's wrong?"
"This is the exact reason we are doing this exercise. We hardly ever speak to each other outside of our own groups. Sato, do you even know what Sero's favorite movie is?" she asked, pivoting towards Sato. Sero always talked loudly and at length about his favorite movie, but only with the Bakusquad.
"I can't say that I really know," he sheepishly replied, glancing at Sero, who shrugged at him in an "it's okay" gesture
"Then, Uraraka, do you know why Tokoyami sits on top of the refrigerator?" she turned to the Izucrew, trying to prove a point. Her eyes shone with an unspoken clarity, the weight of knowledge behind her gaze.
"No, not really," was all that Uraraka could say.
Upon hearing this, the class realized that they really didn't know much about each other, even after being in the same class for nearly a whole year. They now knew why Aizawa had brought up the exercise in class, they needed to know each other better in order to perform at their best as a team. As the class looked around at one another, friend and stranger alike, any playful mood left from before dissipated completely. Mario Kart was left behind as they dispersed to do their homework and chores.
1-A spent the rest of the evening trying to process what they had coming for them. As everyone started to head up to bed, a feeling of uneasiness spread over them.
