No life is devoid of sadness, anger, injustice or, hurt-- even a good one. Not everything is fair or right. Good things can happen to bad people and bad things can happen to good people. The innocent can be hurt, the bad guys can win, and the heroes can lose Hope. No one's life can be perfect-- even if they deserve it. Not even the Choatic thirteen's lives could be, especially when times have changed...

"Papa, please, Be reasonable. Mother would never abandon us. Something is wrong and she needs our help, please papa I know it--" Ben pleaded as he followed his dad down the darkened corridors of the castle.

The dark one spun around, irration and anger written all over his features causing Ben to flinch back. His father wasn't fazed at all by the meek boy's flinch and snapped at him "I said NO, Benjamin, and that's final. She left and she hasn't come back. She's not coming back and I'm not looking for her anymore "

Rumplestiltskin had told his son this many times but the 14-- nearly 15-- year old refused to listen. He had been acting out since he had chosen power over Belle and kicked her out, not allowing her to take Ben and he was pretty sure Ben resented him for it. He bit back a groan as he felt a headache coming on, wondering 'Why are teenagers always so difficult?'

Ben still didn't back down-- just as stubborn as his mother was. As he, too, was if he was being honest here.

"Then I'll do it! If you just let me leave the castle once I can find her--" Ben knew that this was the wrong thing to say when his father cut him off in a loud, booming voice and grabbed him by the arm "NO!" Ben's jaw dropped in shock and he blanched when his father yanked him forward. His father had never done that before.

"You are not leaving this castle EVER! it's not safe out there and I'm not letting you risk your life for someone who left us, AM I CLEAR?!"

Ben wanted to argue with his father. He wanted to scream at him and demand that he let him go-- demand that he find his mother-- but he didn't. He couldn't.

The teen was honestly too scared to after what his father had just done. So he just nodded, still pale as a sheet and weakly replied with "yes papa. I'm sorry."

Rumplestiltskin hummed, unaware of what his son was truly thinking and smiled in satisfaction as he let him go. He didn't notice the way Ben backed away from him as he rubbed his sore arm "all is forgiven, lad, Just don't ask again. Now what are the rules for when I'm out?"

"Stay inside. Don't answer the door. Don't talk to strangers. Go to bed no later than 10. Do all my chores and stay out of your office, room, and basement " Ben answered glumly, glancing down at his arm, wondering if it was gonna bruise from how hard his father had accidentally grabbed him. He hoped it wouldn't, so he could just forget that it had happened.
