Chapter 20

I usually (never) do A/Ns at the beginning of a chapter, but I realized from reading the comments that a lot of you thought I was gonna have Piper&Jason make BENJY kiss ANNABETH. First of all, NO. That's, like, child abuse, isn't it? Second of all, I don't know where you all would get that idea? I reread the last couple chapters a few times, and I couldn't find where it said that Benjy would kiss Annabeth. (If you guys can let me know, I'd really appreciate it and fix it.) To clarify, Jason& Piper's plan was to have Benjy TELL Percy he saw Annabeth kissing SOMEONE ELSE.

Piper P.O.V.

Freaking Jason.

If he hadn't sent me here, I would probably be in the Aphrodite cabin, sleeping. But no! He decided that since last time, since the plan went wrong, we had to have someone actually present and spying to make sure nothing went wrong. And that someone had to be me.

On the one hand, I'm kinda grateful. Like, I'm glad he trusts me enough to let me spy. But on the other hand, it's kinda boring. Nothing is happening. Benjy was supposed to come in here hours ago. Or does it just feel like hours? Maybe it's only been minutes. Whatever. Point being, it's boring.

So that's why I'm here, hiding under Percy's bed. Which smells like dead cheese, if cheese could die. And there's so much dust. Seriously, does Percy never clean?

Just as I think I'm about to die of boredom, I hear voices. Voices! Finally something's happening! But they just pass by the cabin. And... BINGO! We got a Percy in da house!

Why am I turning into Leo? That's something Leo would say. I'm actually going insane under here.

I can't really hear much, but I hear Ben's solitary tone. He always sounds so sad when he talks. I wonder why.

"Alright, have a seat. What's up?" Percy casually asks. I feel the creak of Benjy sitting down on the bed, flinging a random short aside.

"Um, you know..." Ben starts. "I saw something a couple hours ago."

"What's that? A monster?" Percy asks. He sounds genuinely concerned for the kid. Little does he know...

"No. Um. You know that girl, Annabeth?" Benjy continues. Come on, kid!

"My girlfriend?"

"Blonde one? I guess? But anyways, also, Jason kinda hates you."

"I wish he didn't." Percy sighs. "I don't know what to do about it." Well, maybe quit being such a liar, and stop terrorizing others, Percy! Duh! Doesn't take a genius to figure that out!

"Alright, well, Piper kinda talked to me..." Benjy continues. When is he ever going to get to the point? If ever?

For the first time, it occurs to me that he might actually tell Percy we put him up to this. But I'm pretty sure I used charmspeak. Like, 80% sure. Under the bed, I wince.

"She says you're a couple. You and Annabeth." Benjy says.

"Yep, we are!" Percy grins madly. "C'mon, kid, spit it out. You got questions? Ask em. It's okay."

"How would you feel if I told you I saw Annabeth kissing another guy? How would you feel if I told you Piper told me to tell you that?" Benjy says confidently, more confidently than I've ever heard him talk. Then he bolts for the door. He's gone in two seconds.

My heart plummets.

He told.

He said it. All of it. The entire thing.

And, also, way to throw me under the bus! Jason's the ringleader, and the kid doesn't even mention him!

Oh gods, what have we done? How do I get out of this mess now? Why do little kids always have to ruin EVERYTHING?

I'm back. I don't know what else to say but sorry. I never wanted to be one of those authors who never updates. BUT I'M BACK. AND I'M GONNA FINISH THIS STORY SO SOON. NO MORE LEAVING. I'M FINISHING THIS FIRST. HONEST. I PROMISE.
