The most beautiful girl on earth

Irks people, I thought, as I pushed my way through a group of tourists standing next to a coach the next day. Now that summer was starting, all the tourists were coming to Rome to see the sights.

 I didn't think it was bad, but sometimes people like that nerve me. 

With Rena in tow, I walked towards the entrance of the park where I would meet Victoria. The gravel crunched under my trainers as I walked along the main path.

 It smelled like summer and a few birds were hissing. It was a little cooler in the park than in the city, where there were no trees to provide shade.

 I brushed my hair out of my face. Rena pulled on her leash when she saw a small beige dog. Next to the dog stood Victoria, waving at me.

 She looked stunning again. Of course she did. Smiling, I walked towards her. She pulled me into a welcoming hug, which I returned very happily.

 "Hi, how are you?" asked Victoria. "I'm great and you?", I replied happily. 

Victoria answered  that she was fine too and very happy to see me. "Shall we go that way?", I pointed to a path in front of us. 

Victoria nodded and undid the leash from her dog. "What's her name again?", I wanted to know. I did remember Victoria saying the name, but I couldn't remember.

 She laughed, sounding slightly hoarse, but happy nonetheless. "Her name is Chili." she smirked, tossing her hair over her shoulder.

 "Oh no how cute.", I laughed and pulled a grin from my face. Victoria smiled before asking me, "So what's your dog's name?"

 "Oh her name is Rena.", I replied and smiled at Victoria. "How old is Rena?", Victoria wanted to know. "Because she doesn't look that young anymore.", she said with a slight laugh in her voice. 

"She's already 11, I'm afraid," I gave out slightly sadly, realising once again that I didn't have much time left to spend with Rena.

 Victoria nodded understandingly as if she knew exactly what was going on inside me. "I'm very sure you two will have lots of time together," she tried to cheer me up.

 I smiled gratefully at her and Victoria returned the smile. 

 After a good hour of walking through the park, my feet were getting tired and I noticed that Rena was also getting tired of playing with Chili. 

"Uhm I think I'll be heading home now," I said slowly to Victoria. 

"Oh yes of course." Glancing at her watch, she said, "It's later than I would have guessed too."

 I laughed. "Time really did fly by." Victoria nodded before speaking, "So tonight friends of mine are throwing a party, would you like to go with me?" 

Wow a party, I thought, I haven't been to a party in a long time. Excited, I replied, "Yes, I'd love to. What time and where is it?"

 "I'll pick you up at your house at 7 p.m.," Victoria grinned.
