"Be honest Vic. Do you like her?"

When Damiano asked me this I had to think about it.

 "Well, she's nice and all...", I answered hesitantly. "She's great to talk to and totally pretty. I can say that I find her likeable at first sight, but I want to see how it develops..." 

Damiano nodded knowingly and slowly closed the door behind me. Grinning, I turned and tugged lightly on the leash to signal Chili that we were leaving. 

She happily hopped along beside me as we walked home. Today had been a great day, I thought as the warm afternoon sun shone on my back. It had been a wonderfully relaxing meeting and I had taken Elena to my heart immediately. She was such a kind and lovely girl, I smiled. 

When Chili saw a fat pigeon sitting in the street, she yelped indignantly and tried to chase after it, but the leash prevented her. 

I laughed at her and visibly frustrated, she ran back to me and sneezed once. I grinned, took her in my arms and turned into the little lane leading to my house. 

All of a sudden I bumped into a tall man who had turned the corner swinging. "Oh excuse me please-", I was about to start, but I was interrupted by the man. 

"Can't you be careful?!" he ruled me and Chili began to growl. "And you keep your dog away from me!", he raged before stomping off. 

Slightly shocked, I turned and walked towards my house with shaky knees. "What was that all about?" I said to myself as I unlocked the door and let Chili run into the flat.
