The journey back home was quiet. Sunoo had no questions for me. He was just staring at the sky. The kids of the neighbourhood were playing in the park we were crossing. Addie doesn't stay very far from me but this beautiful violet garden was the speciality of the city. It was a replica of the violet garden in Daegue. That garden was dedicated to a book written by an author of that time.
To me, that is one of the most peaceful places in the whole country. The damselflies look so pretty when they flock on the lilac shaded flowers. I still remember when my brother would collect violets and some wild lilies for me on my birthday.
Some places in our life are very negligible to everyone around but hold an enormous space in our hearts. When you have no one, nothing, you learn to appreciate even the smallest grain of rice. And i was indifferent to this situation.
While lost in my own thoughts, I completely overlooked the fact that the kid like person, walking next to me was no more near me. Sunoo had left my side. The sudden fear of him getting lost in this fast paced city sent cold chills up my spine.
What if he ends up with some living monster?
Or What if someone kidnaps him?
"Noona...!" The sound of Sunoo calling me unloaded a huge burden of redundant pressure from my heart that was blocking my breath.
"Where were you?" I threw a thundering question at him out of frustration. "I wasn't lost. Don't worry. I have already learnt all the roads to your house." He said.
I huffed at his reply as he again started flasing that foolish smile.
"I got you somethimg?" He said, grining wider. His face reflected a bright aura which i didn't see in Addie's house.
"What?" With that said, Sunoo brought his hands from behind him, enclosed like a cage. He opened his pale palms with that smile still spreading on his face, to reveal a fresh bunch of purple coloured violets and some marine-blue wild lilacs.
"Violets?" "Mhm!" He said, bobbing his head up and down with his eyes reflecting the same amiable smile as his lips.
I picked the flowers from his hands and stared at them. It's been 4 years since my brother gave me one. He had been in Canada all these years with a mere amount of scholarship and budget to study management. He would send me a candy bag on my birthday but you know what, I loved the flowers more.
"I'd also pick those wild lilies if they were a little more fresh. The already bloomed ones are not. They'll all wither tomorrow. And the buds haven't yet bloomed." Said Sunoo, making a sad pull on his lips.
"Why did you get me violets?" I asked. "Hmm... There's no specific reason. I just want to give you. That's... That's all." He said. "Did you know my favourite flowers?" I said, starting to walk ahead. He looked at me for a minute before running behind me.
