I thought your hands would stay clean.

["Niall did the same."]
"What?"
"I may not love him like I love you, but he made the same decision as you. That's why he wants you out of the picture. He knew you were thinking the same as he had."
Louis had no idea what he was talking about and didn't understand a thing. Then again, Harry was being extremely vague, "What do you mean. What did Niall do and when?"
"About three years ago, Liam and I worked as a duo. Niall was a witness at one of our operations and because we didn't know if he had any information or not, we took him with us. When I went to interrogate, it seemed he'd stolen my money, ID's and Liam's wallet and his watch. Liam was furious, but I liked the kid and begged Liam not to kill him, it wasn't that hard though. Niall... Niall had accepted my request to work for us, but at our first operation he pushed me into the strongest guys arms and ran. The guy beat me up until Liam shot him." Harry spoke in a low voice, slowly explaining while Louis held his breath.
"I was mad and hurt, obviously. A few months later though, he ran into us in France, saying he'd been looking for us, and begging us to give him a second chance. He told us he had no options left and needed the job. He also told me that erm, that he pushed me towards that dude because he wanted to be sure it didn't look like it was my fault. It took a lot from me to trust him again. I think I still don't, actually. Not after he hurt you." His voice became weaker with every word and in the end, he only managed to whisper.
Louis had listened carefully to analyse and compare Niall's situation to his. Harry was right, it was quite similar. Their actions were similar, but the reason was a lot different. Niall wanted to get away, but didn't want Harry to take the blame.
Louis didn't even want to leave him. He wanted to stay, but he felt like he was the reason for Harry and Niall's bickering and fights. Like he was fucking their cooperation up and something was bound to happen.
"Harry, I don't want to leave you. I didn't do it because I wanted to get away because, I want to be with you and be able to love you like normal people." Harry's eyes shot wide open and the frown was gone, suddenly more interested and positively shocked than angry.
"I felt like something was going to happen soon, with Niall or your bosses or just with us and I felt like I was going to cause it. I wanted to protect you but I'm not strong nor am I smart. Not in this world where I don't know what the boundaries are. I thought that you were safer without me but the only problem was that you would be blamed for my escape and I didn't want that. I didn't know enough about things and I'm so sorry that I underestimated the situation and-" he almost choked on his new tears, "I'm so sorry I didn't come talk to you first because that's what I should've done."
Harry opened his mouth twice but closed, only lightly sighing as he didn't know what to say. He was utterly shocked, but seemed relieved. It wasn't as bad as he'd thought. Maybe he didn't have to see this as betrayal.
"And..." Louis added in a quiet voice, looking down as he fumbled his fingers, "and I love you."
There were tears in his eyes when he looked back up. Harry was sitting up straight now, tears in his eyes as he looked at Louis wonderfully, his mouth opened but it stayed silent for a few more seconds until a low whisper could be heard, "I love you too."
Louis' throat hitched as he looked into the green eyes he endeared and sighed relieved when a small smile formed on Harry's lips. He gestured for Louis to come closer with his big hands as he licked his lips and mumbled a "C'mere".
Louis smiled as he looked down and shuffled closer to the bed, sitting down next to Harry when he pulled his hands towards him. As one of Harry's hands stayed on his, the other went up to brush Louis' fringe out of his eyes and caress his cheek. He smiled again and Louis smiled back as he looked down and fumbled with Harry's fingers on his lap.
He looked back up when there was a finger pressing his chin up, and his stomach flipped at how close Harry was, looking down at his lips before leaning forward and pressing them to his. It was soft, gentle, it meant something. It was a huge fucking deal, actually.
Louis thought this was the slowest kiss he'd ever had, but it was so worth it. He felt like everything was good again. Harry believed him and this surely felt like he was going to be able to forgive him.
He smiled in the kiss when he thought about this and it became slightly difficult to stay kissing when Harry smiled to and it really was just teeth and lips against each other's, trying to give as many pecks as they could without smiling too much.
Eventually they parted and Louis couldn't help but hug his love, uncomfortably leaning behind him for that as he was still sitting on the bed sideways.
"I love you-"
"I love you." Harry answered before Louis was even done talking.
Louis laughed as he proceeded the sentence he was trying to say, "I love you and I want to be with you. I don't care how difficult it will be. I want you."
"Be my boyfriend. I mean, I want to be with you too. So please, will you be my boyfriend?"
Louis giggled (very manly for sure) at Harry's suddenly small, shy voice but then restrained and mumbled (squealed) a few yesses while nodding his head and kissing Harry again.
It took them a bit longer this time, not to say they were snogging for a few minutes, before they parted and Harry turned slightly serious again, still smiling though as he kept holding Louis' face close to his.
"So, tell me Zayn's plan."
