she was green

she was green.
not always
the same shade,
in fact,
quite rarely.
but
her essence
was oh,
so very
green.
i remember a day,
maybe even
a few,
when her green
was vibrant
was bright
was powerful.
powerful enough,
in fact,
to churn
my blue
blue
seas.
but today,
on this day
when the earth
sat still
and the seas
levelled,
her green
was not
so.
It
was pale
was meek
was lightened
by
her all too
quickly
ageing heart.
'twas sickly,
even.
what a shame
to see
a
once breathtaking
once earth-shattering
once sea-churning
emerald
resorted
to but
a measly
stone.
easily mistaken
with any other.
none the less,
she was still oh,
so very
green.
