The next day Hordak decided to put on his big boy pants and call Entrapta once again.
He knew he was overreacting. No one else would act like that if they had shown a picture of themselves to someone new.
He dialed the number, thinking carefully about what he was going to say. Or maybe he didn't have to plan out the conversation. He felt a bit calmer when he talked to her, and Entrapta was always unpredictable. She never said what Hordak thought she was going to say. Whenever he thought she was going to say something negative, she never did. That part about her intrigued him.
God, what was he waiting for? He just needed to call her.
——
Entrapta had been downstairs on her laptop. She figured she could get back into working at home. After all, all the socializing she had to do at work was exhausting.
The phone upstairs rung as she was in the middle of writing a paper. Emily, who was sitting next to her, perked up and turned towards the stairs. Entrapta had been so immersed in her work that she hadn't realized the phone was ringing until Emily left her side and went to go upstairs. That's when she heard the ringing.
"Oh!" She gasped, and jumped out of her seat, abandoning her work on the table. Entrapta followed Emily up the stairs and to the phone where she quickly answered the call.
"Hi, Hordak!" She greeted.
"Hello, Entrapta. I apologize for leaving abruptly yesterday," he mumbled, sounding a bit embarrassed.
"Oh, it's alright! If you had to go, you had to go. Anyways, I wanted to tell you that you're handsome! I really like that picture of you," Entrapta told him, glancing at image she left on the nightstand this morning.
"T-thank you, Entrapta," was all he said after a moment.
"You're welcome! Anyways, I was thinking about you last night."
——
Hordak sat there, holding the phone in his hand. He listened to her humming as she waiting for him to say something.
But what was he supposed to say to that? He would just regret anything he said, anyways.
She was thinking about me last night.
What is that even supposed to mean?
... He knew what it meant. He was just trying to find excuses for not replying.
"Uh..." was all he managed to say.
He heard Entrapta let out a snort of laughter. "It's okay! You don't need to reply or anything. I just wanted to tell you. And I think you're really handsome. Oh- I already told you that."
"Y-yes... thank you," he mumbled.
"You're welcome! So, anyways... I don't know what to talk about now. Oh! Oh! No, just kidding! Let's ask each other questions! So we can get to know each other better! I still feel like I barely know you," she rambled. Hordak considered that for a moment before nodding to himself. "Yes. That sounds... enjoyable, I suppose."
"Yay! Okay, I'm going to start with the usual questions. What's your favorite animal?" Entrapta wondered.
Hordak didn't usually like animals. There were a few that he liked, such as his own cat, Imp, but other than that he wasn't an animal person.
"I like cats? I am not really sure, I don't usually like animals," he admitted, a bit hesitant. Entrapta gasped. "Ooo, do you have any cats?" She asked.
"I have one cat. His name is Imp. He's a grey, hairless cat who honestly needs to be put on a diet," he joked, "He's quite the troublemaker, too."
"He sounds so cute! I love cats!" The woman laughed.
"I suppose he is... cute," Hordak said, glancing over at the cat who was sprawled out on his bed, "What about you? What is your favorite animal?"
It took Entrapta a minute to think, but then she let out a loud groan. "I don't even know! There are so many animals and they're all so cute. I really love dogs and cats, though. I have Emily, and sometimes I wish I had a little cat, too," she answered.
"Yes, cats are great," was all Hordak said in reply.
"Okay, what about.... Favorite sport?" Entrapta asked.
"Uhh..."
Hordak was looking out the window, watching his neighbor across the street. Apparently he had gotten a girlfriend recently, and he just watched them share a hug.
He wished he could hug Entrapta.
Normally he didn't like hugs (which was good because no one ever gave him hugs), but he wanted to hug Entrapta.
He would love to just give her a hug, take her on a date, give her flowers...
He could give her flowers. Flower seeds, at least.
"What is your favorite flower, Entrapta?" Hordak wondered suddenly.
"Uh, lisianthus, but you didn't even answer my question!" She exclaimed.
"Favorite sport? Hm, baseball," he answered hurriedly, "I have to go. Goodbye, Entrapta."
"Baseball is lame. Bye, Hordak!"
——
Hordak drove to the local flower shop. The flower shop which is owned by his younger brother.
Hordak wasn't exactly fond of his brother. Their personalities were the exact opposite and they both had... different relationships with their father. Hordak had come to the conclusion a few years ago that the reason he didn't like his brother was because he was jealous. Hordak didn't like how his father treated his brother so much better than he treated Hordak. It was unfair. But then again, was Hordak really that worthy of love?
But he was getting too carried away. He just needed flower seeds for Entrapta, not to rethink his whole life in the parking lot of a flower shop.
He sighed and stepped out of his car, ready to be greeted by his overly-enthusiastic brother.
Right before Hordak could open the door, the door swung opened and he was pulled into a hug.
"Brother! How have you been?! I'm so glad you decided to visit today!" His brother shouted. Hordak groaned internally. "Hello, Kadroh. I've been well," Hordak replied. Kadroh pulled away from the embrace and grabbed Hordak's hand, leading him inside.
"So, what have you come for today, brother?" Kadroh questioned. Hordak stepped way from his sibling and stood awkwardly by the door. "Uh, I've just come for some flower seeds. Lisianthus... I believe?"
"Ah, yes! We have those! Now, what are you doing here buying flowers, brother? For a girl, I'm guessing?" Kadroh asked with a wink. Hordak groaned and shook his head, "Just- get me the flowers."
