My head rested on the steering wheel, as I tried not to fall asleep, it was currently 6:37am and I had to be in in 3 minutes.
I was about to fall back asleep when a knock on the window woke me up.
I turned to see Jonah waving at me enthusiastically, groaning I rolled down the window.
"You coming in?" He asked.
"Yeah." I grabbed my bag before getting out, locking the door.
"Why are you always so cheery in the morning?"
It was now 8:00am, and we were about to open the doors, Mateo and I were putting flowers on display.
"Don't use that one. It's icky." Glenn told Mateo grabbing the flower.
"God doesn't make mistakes very often, but when he does, you have to throw them
right in the trash." Glenn threw it out.I rolled my eyes.
"Does this make sense to anyone else?" Garrett asked rolling over holding two red dresses.
"White dress, $30. White wedding dress, $200. Is there cocaine in this or something?" I chuckled.
"Yeah. The wedding industry's a racket." Dina said.
"Oh, you think everything is a racket." Glenn said.
"And that is the last of it, Glenn." Mateo said.
We all stood in front of the doors, looking at the wedding display that took them five hours and me two hours to set up.
"Wow. Hmm." I turned my head.
"I'm just gonna say what we all thinking. This is pretty as hell." Garrett said as I laughed.
"Oh, it's 8:00." Dina said as she went to the box.
"Ooh, wait. Uh, hold on." Glenn went to fix the sign.
"I just want to move that. That's not in center. That should be in center." The doors started to open.
The crowd went louder then they usually were, Amy and I grabbed each other so we wouldn't get knocked down by the crowd.
It only took fifteen seconds for the crowd to disappear and the display to be ruined.
"Well, that was a good use of the last five hours."
Garrett, Jonah and I were ways away from the chaos, watching two women fighting over a dress.
"They realize they're basically just fighting over a white net with glitter on it, right?" Jonah asked.
"Mm, I got five bucks on the blonde." Garrett said.
"Yeah, I'll take that action." I laughed.
"You are both wrong. Another woman is going to come and steal it from both of them." I said.
"Oh, you're on."
And a second later, while the two women were to occupied with fighting, a red head came over taking it from them and ran off.
"Crap." Jonah groaned as I smiled.
"Pay up boys."
The two men opened their wallets handing me my ten bucks.
"Thanks boys." I hopped off the display case.
I made my way to the bakery with my winnings.
I sat at customer service with Garrett and Jonah, Amy was also with us talking about Cheyenne and Bo.
"And they actually have money saved up, but instead of using it to pay for the baby, they're gonna blow it all on some big party."
"What? Two 17-year-olds are making a bad decision?" Garrett asked.
"What?" Jonah played along.
"I thought that only happened in the movies." I shook my head in disbelief.
"I'm just saying that I wish somebody had warned me not to spend so much money on a wedding." Amy defended herself.
"I'm telling you. People do not like to be told how to spend their money." Jonah told her.
"Really?" Amy asked.
"So does that mean you'll stop telling me to call your "Dad's friend"?"
"That's about making you money, and if you saw the charts that he showed me..." I quickly covered his mouth.
"Oh, yeah. The charts." Amy walked away.
A wet substance hit my palm as I realized Jonah had licked my hand.
"Ew!" I took back my hand wiping it on his vest.
"Wanker." I hopped off the counter.
I grabbed the hand sanitized, putting a lot on my hand.
"So Lennon, how's it going with Marcus?" Garrett asked as I rubbed my hands together.
"We broke up."
"Why?" Jonah asked as I leaned against the counter arms crossed.
"He was too immature." I avoided his glaze as a man came over.
"Hi, do you know where the notebooks are?" He asked.
"Yes. If you would follow me." I told him.
He nodded as I led him to the notebooks, but not before missing the look on Jonah's face.
"Where did you go? Please come back." Cheyenne spoke to Bo's voice mail.
"I love you. It's Cheyenne, by the way."
"Hey, you had to go freak the little dummy out?" Garrett asked Amy.
"Well, it's not my fault." Said girl shrugged.
"Oh, she's right. She was just teaching us this fun game about how expensive and
scary it is to have a baby." The three of us looked at Amy."What if he never comes back?" Cheyenne asked sadly.
"He will. He's gonna come back." Amy said.
"He will! And you know what? If he doesn't, that wouldn't be the worst thing..."
"Going right back at it, huh?" Jonah asked.
"Okay. You know what? Um... I'll go look for him." Amy said.
"Could tag along with me if you want." Dina came over.
"That turd walked out with a Cloud 9 scanner gun. That makes it my jurisdiction."
"He is not a turd." I told Dina.
"Oh, he's a turd." She turned back to Amy.
"Also, my truck has a rather unique odor, but you should get used to it after a couple of hours."
"Oh... No, thank you. We should probably just split up, you know, cover more ground." Amy declined.
"Up to you. Oh... Almost forgot my taser." Dina grabbed it.
"Oh." Cheyenne said quietly.
"Oh! Okay. I'm coming with you!" Amy stopped her.
"Take care of her." We nodded as they left.
"Uh, hey, hey. Now, now. Now, now. There, little lady." Jonah said as I wrapped an arm around the girl's shoulder.
"You're gonna... you're gonna do just fine, kiddo." Garrett and I gave him a look.
"Girl." Garrett said and this time Jonah gave him a look.
"I learned that from Wendy Williams." I rolled my eyes.
