It has been a week since Jonah and I kissed and we have been avoiding each other like the plague.

Right now, the store was closed well kind of, this one guy was too busy figuring out what vacuum he wants, and it has been 20 minutes.

"Attention, Cloud 9 shoppers, the store has been closed for 20 minutes." Garrett spoke through the intercom as Amy and I sat with him.

"Many of us would like to leave. So, if you're still in the store, you're being a dick. Don't be a dick."

I watched as Jonah held the garbage can.

The guy and him talked but he still didn't leave.

"If I don't get home and study for my midterm, I'm totally screwed." Amy said as Cheyenne came over.

"Oh, hey, you look so cute." I told her.

"Thank you." Cheyenne and Garrett both said.

"It's my senior dance recital tonight."

"What? Why didn't you tell us?" Amy asked.

"Well, I can't perform because of, you know, this." She gestured to her stomach.

"Oh."

"But I'm gonna go and cheer on the other girls." Cheyenne smiled.

"Yeah, if this bozo ever leaves the store." Amy grumbled.

"Hey, Myrtle, go bust out your hysterectomy story." I told her.

"It's all right. I got it." Garrett said and started playing music loudly on the intercom.

I covered my ears as the guy didn't leave causing Garrett to stop the music.

And by the miracle of God, Mateo finally got him out by mopping by his feet until he was at the door.

"Have a heavenly night." Mateo said loudly.

The guy grumbled as he left, which caused us to cheer.

"Oh, great job, Mateo. Great job." I told him as we all continued clapping.

Glenn came over smiling and clapping with us.

"Hey, we're all staying late to do more work." We all stopped clapping as he continued.

"I'm so sorry. I just found out about it. I feel terrible about this." I rubbed my face.

"Whoo-hoo!"

Jonah and I stood at snacks, as I put up my sign while he looked around the store not even touching his.

"This is kind of fun, right? Being up high like this?" Jonah asked as I tightened the sign to the string.

"Reminds me of my indoor rock-climbing days." I grabbed the rag.

"Interesting, tell me more." I wiped the sign.

"Sarcasm?" He asked.

"Yup."

"Look I'm sorry about the--."

"It's okay." I cut him off.

"It meant nothing." I replied as he nodded.

Jonah looked down as I made my way down the ladder.

"You don't have to hold the ladder, you know." He told Dina.

"I'm not gonna let you fall... not on my watch." I let out a sigh.

you're a good friend, for this, lennon.

Garrett, Jonah, Cheyenne and I stood watching Glenn drill holes in the signs before flipping the drill around two fingers.

"Oh, hey, look at that."

"Ooh."

"Ooh, cool move, cowboy." Garrett told him.

"What, this? I was born with a drill in my hand." Cheyenne looked down at her belly.

"My family used to own a hardware store... Sturgis and Sons?"

"Oh." I said nodding my head.

"Yeah, for 59 years, the name "Sturgis" was
synonymous with tools..." Glenn told us.

"Well, until Cloud 9 moved in up the street, and then a month later, we lost everything." I rose a brow.

"Hey, has anyone seen the laser level?" Glenn asked.

"Doesn't it make you a little angry to be working for them?" Garrett asked.

"Oh, I don't waste my time with anger." Glenn said than swung down the hammer hitting his fingers.

"Oh." We all flinched.

"Look at that. I hit my finger." Glenn smiled.

"That looked pretty serious." Jonah said as one by one the lights shut off.

"Did the lights go out?" Cheyenne asked.

"Oh, come on."

"Glenn, what's up with the lights?" Amy asked.

"I'm kind of in a rush."

"Actually, the lights are controlled by corporate." Glenn told us.

"What?" I asked.

"Every night at a certain time, the lights dim, and the doors automatically lock.

"All the doors lock?" Amy asked.

"Yep." Glenn nodded.

"Excuse me." Amy quickly went to the doors.

"Come on, come on, come on, come on." She waved her arms but they didn't open.

"Oh, no, no, no, no. Are you kidding me?"

We all stood watching Amy lean on the doors as they still didn't open.

"Okay, the bad news is we're locked in." Glenn said as I rubbed my face.

"Dina and I will go to my office and look for the lock override code." Glenn told us.

"In the meantime, you guys keep putting up signs." He made his way towards the back but stopped.

"You can make a game out of it. You can call the game "Signage Fever"." With that they left.

"I am not playing that game." Garrett said.

"Guys..." Jonah said.

"No." Amy stopped him.

"You don't even know what I was gonna say."

"I know that every time you start a sentence with, "Guys," you end it with." Amy gestured to me.

""Let's make the best of this," or, "Let's have fun." You never say, "Guys, this really sucks"." I said.

"Guys, we have the entire store to ourselves." I rolled my eyes known he wasn't going to listen.

"We could do whatever we want." I rubbed my face again.

"If we decide that this is gonna be fun, then this is gonna be fun. So, if you're with me, I will see all of you in the fun zone." Jonah started heading to the back of the store.

"Fun zone?" Amy whispered.

"Sometimes I just really want to slap him."
