                  ⛔ { CHAPTER FOUR }  4⃣

[~" THE DETECTIVE IS HERE” ~]

There was a moment that haunted him. A moment he still ran through over and over again everyday in his heard since it happened. It had been one and a half years since it happened, but to him it felt like yesterday due to the fact that it never once left his head. It was a very peculiar moment because even though nobody knew it, it changed his perspective about his own existence. It changed what he believed he was. It made him question who exactly he was. A moment that ended in nothing but question marks, in whatever way he looked at it. When ever he was thinking or doing unrelated things, that moment was always there at the back of his mind and every time his mind was free for even a mere second, that moment would overrule his mind and hypnotize him with thought. That day, as he looked at her by his side, it ignited the thought as his eyes drifted into space and his mind begun to play back that very moment one and a half years ago.

It was in a war. He was there. She was there. The only war where they fought on the same side. It ended in tragedy. An inevitable conclusion. Their journey leading to that war had somewhat changed something in their relationship. Something nobody saw coming. They were almost at a point where they could tolerate each other. They begun to share ideas and have fun together, of course when it involved battling common enemies. Through out that journey, they were by each others side. He thought he was just being his same old self towards her, but little did he know  spending that much time with her begun to change him. It happened at such a slow and slight pace that not even he himself noticed. He only came to know of this change when the haunting moment came.

It happened in a war with an evil entity that was long prophesied to be the end of all life on earth. An entity that came from the very pages of the Holy Bible. The very entity who’s motive motivated the unspoken and impossible teaming up of Man, Vampire, Troll, Hunters, Hybrids and Angels themselves. Him and Her were part of the major pieces who led this Alliance. This was a once in a lifetime alliance meant for one cause and one cause only. To prevent the end of the world by the entity’s hand. And the entity was Death itself.

The fight was terrifying, formidable, gruesome and led to the deaths of many. But In they end they won. They sent Death into a portal to nowhere. To non existence.

But it’s defeat came at a very high cost of death and sacrifice. Part of the cost he never thought would affect him. It was one nobody expected would affect him. The moment that haunted him. Her Death.

He had his eyes on her as she was laying on the ground in a growing pool of blood, wheezing for breath. Suffering a pain she was unable to walk off. The pain that came with the very huge stub wound Death’s large spikes had left in her chest. The pain of seeing her own life coming to a painful conclusion. He witnessed her life fading from her body. He had never seen her cry because of how tough she was, but in that moment he watched her shed her first and last tear. He watched her breathe her last breath. Move her last muscle. See her last light. He watched her live her last second, before she was no more than mere a corpse as all the others that had died that day.

Seeing her lay dead was the moment that changed him. The moment he questioned everything he knew about himself. Before that, he believed she was nothing but a Foe to him. He thought her Death was one of the things he wished for the most, because he had been chasing it for long. But when it was handed to him, it affected him in a way nothing ever had. In that moment his brain shut down and something else unfamiliar took control of his body. What It was, he had no clue. But it was an energy so great that it drove him mad over her death that he failed to just let her go. Mad enough that it led him to drive his Vampire fangs into her corpse, poisoning it.
