I wrote this as an entry to DiversityinLit's Black History Month One-Shot Contest.
I just want to throw some disclaimers out there.
1. I am neither African American nor adopted, so I apologize in advance for any unrealistic events that may occur. I truly hope that I do not offend anyone.
2. This has (as of now) not been edited. I tried to get this in as quickly as possible, considering the fact that I started writing so late and only had two days to finish. Please ignore the typos and minor grammar errors.
3. There are some formatting issues with bolded and italicized words because of Wattpad. I don't know what I can do to change it.
I'm just going to say that I'm not happy with what I ended up with, but I still wanted to support the amazing account that is DiversityinLit. So please, check out that account if you haven't already and try to bring more diversity into Wattpad and literature as a whole.
