Once more, she is as awakened by banging on her door.
She should have been used to this by now, but she wasn't. How had returning to Japan made life easier for her? Maybe she should have just stayed in America?
More banging.
She stood up quickly, rushing over to the door to open it up without checking first. She didn't have to. There were only a few people who would bang on her door in the middle of the night. The man standing in front of her now, was one of them.
"Hawks, sweetie," she murmured sleepily, "Are you hurt again?"
The man's feathers were ruffled and his breathing was laboured, "No, no..."
Sayomi felt the waves of anxiety roll off of him. Perhaps even some worry, but he didn't look hurt.
"Baby bird, I need you to trust me, okay?"
"Okay...?"
The situation was getting stranger by the second, and it didn't help that she was shivering from the cold draft coming down the building's hallway.
"Get your medical kit and those little bottles you like to use... Quick."
Her feet were moving before she even had the chance to question anything. Into the bathroom she went to the locked cupboard to grab her leather medical bag. Zipping it open quickly, she scanned over it to make sure everything she might have needed was there. She even had some things in her kit that not even doctors in Japan wouldn't have.
While she was in France, she had befriended a quirk user who could make what he called potions. Whenever a quirk was used on him, he could turn water and his own body fat into a potion, salve or tincture based on the quirk used. He created a duffle bag full of healing mixtures for her before she went to the US by having different healing quirks used on him over and over. He was well known to the Hero Underground there, but she was lucky enough to have had him as an Independent Study teacher her final year of school.
She didn't use these often as he wasn't a well-known quirk user and he wanted to keep it that way. But between his concoctions and her own herbal remedies, she was a far better equipped battle medic than any other one she'd ever met, especially in Japan.
Running back out into the living area, she nodded at him as she slid her feet into the nearest slippers. Out into the hallway they went, she locked her door and he scooped her up to make his way into the darkened world outside.
She was still shivering because she hadn't had a chance to get dressed properly for the autumn night, so he pulled her closer to him. Her nose rested right in the crook of his neck, something he really wanted to enjoy, but didn't have the time.
-
Only a few minutes passed before they were standing at the back door of a decrepit old building. Before she could ask anything, the back door opened and Hawks made his way into the darkened interior. The room was well furnished, at least by "decrepit old building" standards. The man who opened the door now sat on the mattress in the corner. He was covered in purple bruises and exposed skin, the parts of his skin that were left were held down with staples and piercings.
Placing her on the floor, the man in the corner shot up and walked towards her, his eyes soft, "Tsukina?"
Sayomi was taken-aback by being called by her mother's name, but she shook her head, "Um, no... I'm Sayomi..."
"Sayo...mi? You're Tsukina's daughter?"
She nodded.
The man reached out to touch her hair, "You look just like her."
