"so many souls that lost control"
* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧Reader POV
"This thing is awesome!"
Link exclaims, activating another tower, which added another part of the map to his Slate.
"which tower is this?" I ask, leaning over his shoulder.
"Lanayru Tower" He responds, putting his slate back on his hip.
I open my mouth to respond, but a loud sigh from behind me catches me off guard, and I jump out of instinct.
"what was that?!" I yell, hiding behind Link and grabbing onto his arm.
"someone else is up here" Link whispers.
"over there" I point.
Link slowly moves in that direction, and peeking around we notice a Zora.
"A Zora! we must be closer to the Domain than I thought!" I say, startling Link and the strange Zora.
"Hylians! yes!" The Zora exclaims excitedly, and I move my way out from behind Link.
"I, by order of Prince Sidon of Zoras Domain, am searching for a Hylian!" the Zora explains.
"or I was...until I fell asleep" He adds on bashfully, and I chuckle at his honesty.
"what's your name?" Link asks curiously, and I face the Zora out of curiosity as well.
"My apologies! I'm Gruve. nice to meet you Hylians" He responds politely.
"nice to meet you as well" Link says, but I notice a look of distress is still plastered on Gruves face.
"is something else bothering you, Gruve?" I ask, stepping forward, and the Zora faces me.
"well...when I fell asleep I was not...up this high, you see"
"oh, goodness, Link, he's been up here for that long!?" I exclaim, and Link gives me an uneasy look.
"my bad..." He says, scratching the back of his head.
"it's not your fault...you didn't know he was here. I just feel bad" I say with a sigh, looking back over at Gruve as he speaks again.
"Prince Sidon is down at the bridge below, but I cannot catch his attention. i'm too high up!"
Link and I give each other a small glance.
"but you! you guys are Hylians, so my luck is improving!
Gruves optimism brings a smile to my face.
He turns to look down and off the tower.
"Prince Sidon! I found Hylians!" He shouts over the tower but alas, Sidon still does not hear him.
He sighs and turns towards us once more.
"perhaps I should swallow my fear and jump to the river below. that way I could return to Prince Sidon, he must be worried sick!" Gruve yells courageously, but that courage was faked.
"nope! no, I cant! no way!" He backs away from the edge and huffs.
"it'll be some time before I can get back to Prince Sidon. please, you can leave and go on ahead"
I furrow my eyebrows and give Link another worried glance.
"are you...sure? we can help you" I say, looking up at Gruve, who then smiles gently.
"no, please, Sidon needs more help at the moment than I do. you Hylians go find him, and I can take care of myself, I promise" He responds with a determined nod.
I sigh and nod back.
"Is that okay, Link?" I ask, turning to face the blonde male.
"as long as he's sure" He says, nodding his head.
Gruve agrees, and so Link and I plan our way down to find the Prince.
We decide to glide down together on his paraglider, and it worked, to both of our surprise.
But as we grew closer to the ledge we planned to land on, we noticed monsters.
More blue Bokoblins, three to be exact.
It was also raining, not very hard, but it wasn't a drizzle.
Anyway, to our luck, they were asleep, and almost cuddling as they did so. This would make my attack easier, anyway.
We got closer, and I grabbed my weapon, unsheathing it from my back, letting go of the paraglider.
Jumping down, I sliced two of them, killing them instantly as my weapon slashes the wet ground.
I only startled the other from its slumber, and as it turned around to my surprise attack, I lift my leg and kick it hard against its stomach, sending it flying back and off the ledge, into the water.
Link finally lands next to me, putting his paraglider away.
"sweet mother of Hylia, you have got to stop doing things like that, y/n!" He yells, grabbing at my shoulders as my double axe slips from my hands and clashes to the ground.
"why? I planned it out this time, it wasn't really reckless of me" I say, with a smirk.
Link sighs and releases my shoulders. He bends down and picks up my axe for me, handing it over.
"you are really good with this" he says gently with a smile.
butterflies roam my stomach as he stares at me, and I smile back.
"thank you"
"i'm starting to think the fighting-all-monsters-we-run-into thing is kinda your thing now. you've been good at it strategically from the start, and you're naturally just so...strong too" Link goes on, and I feel my face grow slightly warm.
"you think so?" I ask, putting my axe away.
"I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it" He says, crossing his arms.
"well then, when I do stuff like this you can't get mad" I say, turning away from him and looking over the ledge.
"woah, a shrine! let's go!" I say, turning back to face Link.
"there's also a bridge. maybe the prince is down there. see the glowing blue pillars?" Link asks, and I look down further to see the glowing bridge.
"I do. should we head there first and worry about the shrine after?" I ask, disappointed.
Link nods.
"we'll go to the shrine, and you can come in with me. I promise" Link says, grabbing my hand.
He pulls out his paraglider again, and we glide down to the bridge.
As soon as we land, we hear faint yelling from somewhere around us.
"above you!" We hear, and look up to see another Zora, a red one this time, who then jumps down from one of the pillars.
As the Zora stands up straight, his strikingly yellow eyes stare down at me, making my stomach once again swirl with butterflies.
pretty eyes.
"pardon me, but you're Hylians, yes?"
He speaks with a smooth, charming voice.
My face goes hot as I try to respond.
"y-yes, we are" I stutter, and Link sends me a questionable look.
"aha! Hylians! yes, I knew it!" The Zora exclaims.
He clears his throat and looks over at Link.
"oh, pardon me..."
He sends both of us a shiny smile.
"I am Sidon, the Zora Prince!" He exclaims excitingly.
His smile almost makes my knees weak, but now knowing he's the Prince definitely explains his charm.
"Sidon! we just met Gruve! he said you were looking for Hylians!" Link explains, and Sidon chuckles.
"yes! and who might you be?" Sidon questions us.
"I'm Link! and this is y/n!" Link says, giving me a side glance.
"Link? your name is Link?! fantastic name! although..." He sidetracks, gripping his chin in thought.
"I cannot shake the feeling that I have heard it somewhere before..." Sidon says.
"but in any case, it's a strong name!" He says enthusiastically.
He looks down at me and smiles.
"and y/n! what a beautiful name, for a Hylian even more beautiful! so happy for you to be the ones coming by" Sidon tells us.
"though, I can tell by the way you carry yourself, Link, you are no ordinary person" Sidon says, leaving Link slightly stunned.
"you must be a strong warrior among the Hylians, correct?!" Sidon questions, and Link laughs.
"yes, you could say that" Link admits with a smile.
"I have been searching for someone like you for a long while. A man like you, Link, who carries himself with power!" Sidon says, and I notice a small blush upon Links cheeks.
oh, shit.
"anyway...right now, Zoras Domain is in great danger because of the massive rainfall coming from Divine Beast Van Ruta!" Sidon explains, and Link and I look at each other.
"so that explains why i'm so soaked" I say with a chuckle, and Link smirks.
"well..." He says, giving Sidon a side glance before looking back at me.
"oh, ew, you dirty boy!" I whisper-yell, pushing his shoulder.
"I saw those heart eyes on you too, you little perv! you lean both ways, don't you?" I laugh, and his face goes red.
"oh, what a wild imagination you have..." Link brushes off, and we shift our attention back to Sidon, as Link decides to quickly respond.
"yes, we're here to help with that" He says, his hands placed on his hips.
"now Zoras Domain will be saved for certain! no time to waste! hurry up and head over!" Sidon says, but goes to add something.
"but, because of the rain, the cliffs are too wet to climb, so you'll have to take the path up to the Domain. but it won't be easy, maybe even a little dangerous" Sidon explains honestly.
I move closer to Link instinctively.
"the monsters up ahead attack with electricity,
be careful"be careful

Heading up the stairs to East Reservoir Lake to meet with Sidon, Link holds around my waist as I struggle slightly to walk up the stairs.
"are you okay?" Link asks gently.
"better now, but still really drained. I cant come with you into Ruta?" I respond, looking up at him as I groan.
"no, love, i'm afraid not. and especially with how you are now, it's definitely a no" He says gently, as we finally reach the top of the stairs.
We look over to see Sidon waiting for us on the bridge. Just at the top, there was a bedding area, with a bar table and some drinks.
"over here" Link says, holding my hand as we gently walk over to the bed. Sidon makes his way over, and stares down at me worriedly.
"oh, dear, how are you feeling?" Sidon asks, and I blush while giving a small smile.
"better, just tired. where will I go while Link is in there though?" I ask, and Sidon sits on the bed next to me, Link doing the same shortly after.
"You can stay right here, and if you want, I can stay with you too after I help Link get inside Vah Ruta" Sidon offers.
I smile, but look down onto the complex pattern placed on the sheets im sitting on.
i'm so stupid. I should've seen him coming.
"I know what you're thinking. stop it right now" Link says sternly, and I look up to a see a new expression plastered on Links face.
"it was not your fault, y/n. I didn't even see him either" He says, grabbing my hand.
"he shot me with a sock arrow, Link" I say, feeling my shoulder throb and spasm a little as I raise my voice.
Link looks at me and sighs.
"y/n...this is all very new, to you and me. defending yourself and fighting head on, you've done so well! you're so smart, and your strategies are incredible! you've never done any of this before and yet I feel like you're better than me, and i'm the so-called hero here. but we make mistakes, we slip up, and shit happens...what are we suppose to do? but it wasn't your fault, and the important thing is that you're okay" Link says, and Sidon agrees.
"you've made it this far with him, and you're still standing" Sidon tries to add on enthusiastically, but I laugh.
"barely. he helped me up the stairs" I say, looking at Link.
"you'll be okay. you are okay" Link says, standing up from the bed.
"We have to go now, but you wait here for me, okay? and I promise i'll be back" Link says, walking next to Sidon as he stands up.
"how can you promise? what if something happens?" I ask worriedly, and Link shakes his head.
"I promise to come back because you're waiting for me. I cant leave you" Link says, and I feel my stomach swirl.
"you're so cheesy. just be careful and come back because you're the hero, and everyone believes in you. not just for me" I say, and he laughs.
"hopefully i'm not put into a hundred year slumber this time, though" He jokes, turning to walk away with Sidon.
"Link!" I yell.
"what? it was a nice nap"
He adds sarcastically, as they both then jump into the water heading for the Beast.
I see Ruta notices their presence and reacts to it, and I grow nervous, but all I can do is sit and wait.
I hate waiting.꧁♡︎꧂
A sudden loud roar wakes me from my sleep.
The roar coming from Vah Ruta as it clashes with the water below it, sending a wave my way to splash against the floor near the bed, almost soaking me. The beast submerges itself in the water, and my worry is Link still being inside.
What's happening?!
Ruta then travels under the water; and makes its way up the mountain. Once it's up there, it slams to the ground, causing the floor underneath me to slightly shake. Ruta now facing the castle swirling with evil atop the mountain, it lifts its trunk and reveals two tusks that emit a glowing red ball of light. I gasp as I watch, wondering what's happening and still hoping Link would be by my side soon enough. The red ball then turns into a laser, aimed at Hyrule Castle. An explosion of red is seen as the laser collides with the castle.
Incredible.
"now that is something" I hear a voice come from behind me, and I recognize it.
I turn to face Link, all scratched and bruised, but standing.
"Link!" I yell excitedly, jumping out of the bed and running up to him, wrapping my arms around his neck. And doing this, I ignore the sting from my own wounds, as it's not top priority.
"oh, wow, you're okay, thank Hylia!" I exclaim, burying my face in his neck, feeling his arms snake around my waist.
"it was not easy at all...but I did it"
He reeked of blood and sweat, but I did not think of letting go.
"I saw Mipha" He says.
But, that's when I let go.
"who?" I looked into his eyes curiously as he stares down at me, and I could see how tired he was in his eyes.
"she's one of the champions, and who made this Zora Armor for me" He says, pointing to the armor he was still wearing, and was still perfectly intact.
"the Zora Princess who was in love with you?" I ask, and he nods.
"yes, her" Link says, with a weak smile.
Why does this make my stomach turn?
"she died fighting though, didn't she?" I ask, brushing away the swirling feeling in my core.
"she did. the thing I just defeated, she died fighting it" Link said sadly, walking over to the bed and sitting down."fighting Waterblight Ganon is why Princess Mipha had fallen long ago"
