Reader POV
I walk up to my horse,
and pat his snout gently.
"are you finally ready for some traveling, King?!" I shout excitedly.
Surprisingly enough, it didn't take much for my dad to immediately trust Link the same way I did, especially after Link had given him a tour of his Sheikah Slate.
He was finally letting me travel, as long as I promised to stay by Links side, and Link swore to protect me from anything.
I could barely hold in all of my excitement as I geared up my horse.
"your horses name is King?" Link asks as he walks up behind me. I turn to face him and nod, just as my black horse gently nudges my cheek.
"yes, Link, this is King!" I say, scratching under Kings chin as he neighs happily.
"why...and how is his mane red?" Link questions, staring up at my horses unnaturally colored hair.
"oh! you do know we can dye hair, right?" I explain to him and he playfully rolls his eyes.
"you know, if I knew you could do that I wouldn't have asked why his mane was the color of an apple" He sasses, and I gasp at his cheekiness.
"well, you know, if you're going to be mister sassy pants this whole trip I might as well not come!" I joke, crossing my arms and shifting my weight onto one foot. Link shrugs and starts walking off.
"well, thats your decision! I mean, i'm basically your only option at this point, y/n" He grumbles as he slowly steps away.
"hey!" I yell, grabbing his arm and pulling him back to face me.
We burst out laughing as we both shake off our jokes, only to be interrupted by my father. I look up at Link and smile before facing my father. He parts his lips to speak.
"y/n...my daughter...please, please, be careful. I do trust you, and Link, to stay safe... and for him to protect you. but do not forget to enjoy yourself either" he explains, bringing his hands to rest on my shoulders as he winks at me.
"I-"
"we will. and I swear that I will do everything in my power to keep your daughter safe, sir" Link interrupts me, suddenly making my cheeks flush.
I purse my lips and give him a quick side glance, just as I mouth a 'thank you' before looking back up at my father.
"thank you, Link. you're very brave" my father compliments, but Link brushes it off.
"it's no problem. besides, it might be fun to have a traveling partner" Link says, nudging my shoulder slightly after my father finally removed his hands.
My father lets out a sigh before looking down at me.
"you have everything you need? some food and water, your horse is geared...any weapons you're taking? and you changed into a better outfit, right?" My father goes on. I nod and look down at my outfit as I fix my hair, that was now finally loose from my hat, behind my pointed ears. I have on brown high waisted tights, and black traveling boots that were buckled against my shins. Then, I have a tan v-neck shirt, along with a short maroon-colored cloak clipped around my chest, laying against my back.
I look back up at my dad as I pull up the band of my leggings to adjust them on my waist.
"what about a jacket? won't you get cold at some point?" He asks as I walk over to King.
"I have a bunch of other things in Kings saddle bags. I have a jacket in there, along with some food and water for now. Link will be in charge of weapons for now too" I explain as I walk back up to my father and push his shoulder down to place a kiss on his cheek.
"I can't thank you enough for letting me do this. I still can't believe it's happening" I say as I grab my horses reins and pull him over besides Link and I.
"I promise I will be back to see you, but it won't be for a while" I explain, giving Link a glance of approval as he nods in response.
"yes, we are planning to head into Kakariko Village first" Link comments as he steps forward. I purse my lips to hold back an excited smile.
"I can't wait to see the village for the first time!" I squeak, gripping onto Kings reins.
"and on the way there...we can get to know each other better too!" Link adds on cheerfully, and I chuckle at his excitement.
"yes, we can do that. I'd love to"
I smile at Link before facing my father one last time.
"well, we should head off. we'd like to cover enough ground today before it gets dark...and it's already noon. we have a long way to go, don't we, Link?" I explain, once again looking at Link for approval as he nods. I look over at my father to see him approaching me, then wrapping his warm arms around me into a tight hug.
"be safe, y/n. I look forward to seeing you when you come back, and hearing all about it" He mumbles into my ear before kissing my cheek for the last time and removing himself from the hug.
He then sighs gently and pulls out a pouch from behind him, slowly handing it to me.
"you'll also be needing this for now. use it wisely" He mumbles as I grip the pouch in my hand, looking up at him curiously.
"trust me" he whispers.
I smile comfortingly as I give him a nod.
Then, he turns to walk back into the stable, going to take care of his business.
As he walks away, I anxiously open up the pouch, seeing five red rupees, two purple rupees, and one silver rupee.
300 rupees?!
I look up to see my dad already speaking to a new customer, and I softly smile to myself.

I turn to Link and sigh.
"well! for now...you don't have a horse, so you can ride with me until you do" I suggest and he nods, but I could swear I saw a hint of red rise to his cheeks. Shrugging it off, I stuff away the rupee pouch safely and hoist myself up onto my horse, then help Link up on the back.
"I won't be going too fast, so you can use one arm to hold on my waist and the other for the map on the slate. you tell me where to go and i'll be steering King. sound good?" I plan, and he gives a faint 'mhm' before I hear the slates strange noise as it opens to the map, and feel Links hand gently gliding its way around my waist. This causes me to jump a little, and my face to grow slightly warm.
But I just brush it off, getting use to the physical contact, since i've never really had anyone to share anything with physically.
"ready to go?" I ask, and he grips onto my waist a bit tighter.
"yup! lets go!" Link cheers as I chuckle with excitement, my blush still placed lightly on my cheeks.
Finally, I gently kick against Kings sides, starting off with a trot
right into our undefined adventure that awaits.
