Raph's POV

I had gone on patrol on my own, surprisingly Fearless Lame-o-nardo had let me. I smirked at the thought and jumped across the next gap between buildings. I scanned the area quickly, seeing no threat in the area, and moved on to go down to street level. This was my favorite part of patrol, when we were in the ground. It felt normal, like we were just normal humans. But, the moment patrol ended was the moment that happy feeling left. I sighed and muttered to myself for a moment before rushing to the next alleyway. I heard a slight mechanical shift and turned my head a fraction of a second before I was slammed against a wall. Dog Pound had found me, and I was near defenseless without my brothers.

"Well, what do we have here? Little Raphael all by himself." He chuckled darkly, grabbing me by my throat. He threw me at the opposite wall of the alley, making sure that I hit my head against the tough brick. I groaned slightly, standing back up and retrieving my sai. I smirked and spit out a tooth or two, racing around to his back and jumping up on to the dumpster. I bounced off the lids, landing on his back and digging my sai into it, leaving twin gashes down the left and right side as I slid down his back.

He slammed back into a wall, knocking me on my head again and reaching behind himself to grab me. He punched me with his smaller arm, making my head snap to the side. I was going to be pretty bloody, and I could almost feel myself passing out. I played dead and went fully limp, making him think I was. He growled and dropped me to the ground, turning around and stomping off. He dropped me on my leg and broke it, and it took everything that I had not to scream. I felt myself blacking out, but before I could, a soft, Brazilian accented voice came into my hearing range.

"Fish Face..." I growled out slightly, trying to be intimidating. It didn't work out well, and I ended up sounding like a puppy.

"I am e-not here to hurt you more, Raphael. I am e-here to make you better." He said quietly, carrying me to a small warehouse with blacked-out windows. "Believe it or e-not, I do truly care for you." He muttered under his breath. I could tell that he thought I couldn't hear him. Immediately, my heart rate picked up and I smiled softly, automatically curling closer to the man-- er, fish-- that I should see as my enemy, but don't.

"Lay down flat, Little Raphael." He murmured quietly, making me relax against the table. I nodded and did so as he began to remove the padding and tape from my body, leaving me with my sai close at hand and my shell. He cleaned the bruises and cuts, getting ice for my blackening eye and miscellaneous wall burns. He looked at my leg and cleaned it up slightly, taping it up as best he could before wrapping it in a splint and making sure I wasn't in any pain. He tied my pads and mask on gently, his soft webbing and the pads of his fingers brushing my skin every once in a while. When he replaced my mask, he caressed my cheek softly, his eyes scared, kind, and full of-- must I say it?-- love. I'm sure mine looked the same, the damned fish was everything I ever wanted, since the day I met him. He moved me to a large couch, making sure I was comfortable before standing.

"Xever....c'mere." I murmured quietly, beckoning me closer. He blinked slightly when he heard me say "Xever".

"Are you all right, Raphael? You called me....."

"I did. And I will continue to, unless you WANT me to call you FishFace." I joked slightly, though the only thing running through my head to call him was "mine".

"No, I enjoy hearing you say my name." He admitted quietly, kneeling beside me. I sighed quietly and wrapped my arms around his shoulders, pulling him close to me and burying my face in the crook of his "neck".

"I care for you, too." I admitted, my face heating up quickly. He pulled away slightly, looking at me. I ducked my head, hiding my face.

"Is that e-so, little turtle?" He murmured, tilting my face up with one finger. I nodded quietly, looking away. He smiled softly, leaning in and pressing a chaste kiss to my lips. I kissed him back, pulling him close to me. I scooted over, motioning for him to get on the couch. He gladly complied, pulling me into his chest. I laid there, my head on his "chest" and my arms around his "waist", murmuring to him quietly until I fell asleep, content in who was supposed to be the enemy.

Who said every enemy had to be all bad?
