Donnie slammed the door to his lab, locking it tightly and falling to his knees, his eyes shut tight. His ShellRaiser had malfunctioned.....again. He couldn't build anything that didn't blow up in his face or malfunction and ruin everything. He growled in the back of his throat, heaving himself back onto his feet and walking to his lab bench.

Here's to being human
All the pain and suffering
There's beauty in the bleeding
At least you feel something

He looked at his bench and scanned the beakers, parts, and tools that lay there, feeling useless and stupid. They would never work, the turtle jet packs, so why waste his time? He slammed his arm down on the table, breaking a beaker or two in his path, and swept everything off the table in an angry grunt. He fell to the floor, his knees finally giving out as he landed in the debris of his actions, the broken glass of the beakers digging into his exposed arms and legs. He couldn't move, didn't want to either.

I wish I knew what it was like
To care enough to carry on
I wish I knew what it was like
To find a place where I belong

He just wanted to be normal, to be human like April. He didn't ask to be a stupid turtle, that was the mutagen's doing. He wanted to find someone who cared about him for his mind and personality, seeing past his shell.

BUT
I am machine
I never sleep
I keep my eyes wide open

But he knew that couldn't happen. Donatello sighed heavily and began to clean his mess, methodically picking the glass shards out of his skin. They didn't hurt, how could they hurt if he could not feel? His dead, crimson eyes scammed the room for any other glass before he picked up the broken pieces of turbine engines and sat them down on the table, working on them numbly.

I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just
Feel
Something

He was empty, there was no Sassatello who told the bait not to talk back. There was no Donatello who constantly made new inventions to please his brothers and to fill his own time. This used to be his favorite thing, but now it held no meaning. The machines in front of him made him feel nothing. It was as if he were Metalhead, a robot with no emotions.

I am machine
I never sleep
Until I fix what's broken

He hadn't slept in days, sustaining simply on coffee and a few bites of pizza here and there. He wanted to just fix the packs, give them to his brothers, and be done with making anything. Of course, he would fix something if it needed to be fixed, but other than that, he was hanging up his shop keys-- for good.

I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just
Feel
Something.....

The soldering iron he was working on dripped onto his skin, but he didn't move a muscle, didn't even flinch. He couldn't feel it anymore. He was numb. Lost in thought, the whole soldering stick ended up melted on his forearm.

Here's to being human
Taking it for granted
The highs and lows of living
To getting second chances

He glanced down and sighed, realizing that he had let it melt on his arm-- and dry. He wasn't going to be able to get this off without pain-- but he would deal with it. It's not like his brothers cared.

I wish I knew what it was like
To care about what's right and wrong
I wish someone could help me find
Find a place where I belong

Donnie tore at it with the sharp end of his bo-staff, finally prying off the iron, but not without accidentally giving himself a few gashes in the process, and ripping some of the skin that was underneath the iron, off. He was left in a bloody mess, his emotions welling up in his eyes as he bled heavily on the table.

BUT
I am machine
I never sleep
I keep my eyes wide open

He cleaned his area off and retrieved another soldering stick, turning back to his project and ignoring the pain and blood that was dripping from his arm.

I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just
Feel
Something

Nothing affected him anymore, not the missing skin, nor the heat of the overused iron. He just worked on, his eyes dead and his body stiff. It was almost like he had died.

I am machine
I never sleep
Until I fix what's broken

It was almost five in the morning by then, he had yet to move from the spot and he was still working on his machine.

I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just
Feel
Something.....

There were countless burns, cuts, gashes, scrapes, and other injuries he had yet to address, and he was bleeding heavily still. It was a wonder he was still conscious.

It wasn't supposed to be this way
We were meant to feel the pain
I don't like what I am becoming
Wish I could just feel something

Donatello's head snapped up as he listened to Mikey bouncing around in the kitchen. The youngest turtle was always the first to rise, making everyone coffee and breakfast. He knew that they would only come to bring him food and coffee. Other than that, they would most likely ignore him bleeding. It made him slightly sad to know his brothers didn't care, but he knew it anyway. He continued working, his head lower and his eyes drooping, finally beginning to lose consciousness.

I am machine
I never sleep
I keep my eyes wide open

He jumped again, hearing a loud bang as something crashed. It jolted him from his bloodloss- induced fuzziness, making him turn back to his work.

I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just
Feel
Something

He sighed quietly, almost done. Another tool, and the fuzziness returned.

I am machine
I never sleep
Until I fix what's broken

He began to black out as a voice echoed in the lab.

"Donnie. Breakfast is-- Donatello?!" The voice grew louder as his own vision grew hazier. He fell forward on his project, having lost enough blood to now collapse.

"Donatello, stay with me. Leo, LEO! HELP!" The younger-sounding voice called frantically from the distance. It must be Mikey, Donnie thought to himself.

"Don'...bother. Doesn'....mat'r...'neways..." He muttered, his eyes beginning to finally close as Leonardo burst into the room.

"Donnie!" Two voices echoed, rushing over.

I am machine
A part of me
Wishes I could just
Feel
Something.....

His brothers tried to shake him awake, but could only begin to clean him up and wrap his wounds before frantically looking for ways to replenish his blood supply. They needed to make sure they're beloved younger-- or older, in Mikey's case-- was all right.

They couldn't lose their Donnie.
