The sky was a weary grey and precipitation fell from it with the continuous pitterpatter of raindrops hitting ground. Water. Haru thought, very much in his element.

Haru and Makoto shared an umbrella as they walked, holding hands. They had strolled nearly the whole way to school silently that morning.

Suddenly Makoto spoke, "H-haru," he said nervously.

Haru, eyes on the wet pavement below him answered, "Hm?"

"Do you like me?" The orca blurted out. His cheeks immediately turned deep pink.

Haru looked at his friend as if he were crazy. "Of course I do." He said plainly.

"W-wait. Really??" Makoto asked, flustered. Then a look of realization hit him. "Oh, Haru. You know what I mean right?"

"Sure I do," he replied. "You're asking whether or not I like you... as a friend."

Makoto stuttered. "U-um. Actually Haru... I meant as--um. You know. More than friends?"

"More than friends?" Haru thought for a second, "brothers then?"

"No, Haru. Like boyfriends." Makoto said finally, his face now an unplausible shade of red. They both stopped walking.

Haru studied Makoto. Boyfriends. He thought. He reached up and brought Makoto's face toward him. They kissed.

Haru pulled away, hesitated, and thought before saying. "I don't know."

Oh, he knew alright. He was in love with his best friend.
