"i'm moving away. i'm going back to Australia."
Tommy just stayed quiet. he could barely comprehend what was said because he swore he must have been hearing things. it felt like someone had just stabbed him in the heart. Salem, the Salem he had by his side since the start of secondary school, was now leaving.
"wha- you can't be!" Tommy seemed rather confused.
Salem sighed, "i'm sorry. Dad was talking about it with Rich and we decided we're going to move back. i was going to tell you but i didn't know how or when."
The blonde looked down at the floor, his gaze sad, "when are you going?" he mumbled.
"4 weeks i think."
Tommy nodded, believing if he didn't look up then Salem wouldn't see that he had tears in his eyes. the girl noticed though. she couldn't help but feel guilt. Tommy was never this quiet and it was her fault. sadly, she wrapped her arms around the boy.
"i'm sorry." she whispered.
Tommy shook his head, "it's not your fault. i'm just gonna miss you a lot." he murmured, burying his face in her neck.
"it's not like you'll never see me again." Salem assured, "you know i'll visit whenever i can."
"i know."
