"Fuck!", Jane thought. She ran out of white makeup. It was the premiere tonight and she wasn't done with the main character's makeup. How was she supposed to finish the wolf look without white? "I ran out of white!", she yelled. "Coming!", one of the other actors shouted back.
"I still had some in my bag", she said and gave it to Jane. "You're a life saviour, you know that?", Jane said relieved. "You're welcome", the woman said and ran back to get her costume.

Jane finished the look and waited nervously for the show to start. God she was nervous! It was the first time someone would actually see her work and she was worried if the people wouldn't like it. The show lastet 2 hours and the audience seemed to really enjoy it. Jane was really glad to see the smiling faces across the auditorium.

When the show was over, she was asked to go on stage as well to receive a bunch of flowers for her work. It was a tradition of the theatre on premiers. "And thank you Jane Lauren for the beautiful makeup!", one of the directors said.

The audience applauded and one man in the crowd was completely stunned. He thought the animal looks were on point and still human enough to see the actor through it. "The work of a genius!", he had told his friend John who was sitting next to him. The man was named Freddie.

After most of the audience were gone, Jane was sitting backstage enjoying a moment of silence and relief, when someone knocked at her door. It was one of the actors, who was just about to leave. "Here's someone who wants to talk to you. I told him to wait outside", he said. "Oh? To me? Okay well thank you Tom", Jane said smiling. Tom nodded and left the room.

"Who the hell would want to see me? Definitely not someone who wants an autograph. I'm just the makeup artists and the audience usually just want autographs of the actors.", she thought but left the room.

A man was standing there with long, black hair, extreme slim clothing and a crooked smile spread across his face. Next to him a man with dark blonde, almost brownish hair and more masculine looking clothes. "Hello?", Jane said a bit confused. "Hello dear!", the black haired man said friendly. "I just wanted to compliment you on your amazing work! I thought the makeup looked absolutely stunning! Even though they were supposed to look like animals, they still had human features in their faces and didn't look too animalistic.", he said.

Jane smiled. He really understood her intention. "That was my plan. I'm glad to hear it worked!", she said and still couldn't believe it. She was so afraid the people wouldn't like it and now there were two men waiting for HER to give her a compliment on the makeup.

"You're welcome darling! May I ask if you're free tonight? I'd love to talk about your work! Maybe grab a coffee somewhere?", the man asked. Jane wasn't sure but he seemed to be very nice and very gay so she didn't consider him a threat.

"Sure why not.", she said. "May I ask what your name is?", Jane asked. "Oh of course! My name is Freddie Mercury. It's very nice to meet you, Miss Lauren", Freddie said smiling. "It's very nice to meet you too. And you are?", she said and turned to the quiet other man. "My name is John Deacon", he replied. Jane nodded and they went outside together to grab a coffee at the nearby coffee shop.

"I must admit that my real intention wasn't only talking about your work but actually asking you a very important question", Freddie said after a while of small talk. "Oh?", Jane wondered.
"You see I am the vocalist of a band. We are called Queen. John here is our bassist. And we are looking for a makeup artist to do our looks. We are not the typical type of rock band, we want to try something new and join the rebellion the singer David Bowie started.", Freddie explained.

Jane was intrigued and after she heard the name of Bowie she was sure. It was a brilliant and wonderful idea. She really admired Bowie and joining his rock rebellion seemed like a dream come true. "That sounds absolutely amazing! I would love to work for you!" she said. "I would have to think about it though because of my job at the theatre and my studies.", she explained.

"That's totally fine darling!", Freddie said understanding. "Why don't you come and meet the band tomorrow? We have a rehearsal for a gig.", he asked smiling. "Sure! Tomorrow is it then.", Jane said happily. "This is the start of something wonderful. I just know it", Jane thought.
And boy she was right!
