I rang the little golden doorbell next to the white door and rocked back and forth on my heels as I waited. A few seconds later a tall blonde male with rectangular glasses answered the door, and I felt the small smile on my lips grow wider.

"Tsukki!" I exclaimed.

"Hello, Yamaguchi. Please come in." Tsukishima welcomed me in.

As soon as I entered, a mouth watering aroma filled the air. I turned my head to see a pan of sizzling strips of meat, two bowls of rice, and a plate of glistening sautéd vegetables.

I watched as Tsukishima walked into the kitchen towards the stove. Using a pair of tongs, he flipped over the meat and said, "You can take a seat at the table. I'll bring the food over there."

I slipped off my light sweater and placed it on the back of my chair. Instead of sitting down though, I stepped behind the counter and walked over to the stove. I grabbed a serving spoon and picked up the plate of vegetables.

"W-What are you doing?" I looked to see a frazzled male turning off the stove.

"Helping obviously," I said, placing the vegetables over the rice.

"Y-You don't have to do that," Tsukishima stuttered.

"It's okay. I didn't know you were making dinner. At least let me help you."

The male seemed to hesitate at first but quickly nodded, and I continued placing the vegetables over the rice. Tsukishima added a couple strips of meat on top. He carried our bowls, and I brought along the two pairs of chopsticks that were on the counter. I headed over to the table but stopped when I realized Tsukishima wasn't following me.

"What's wrong?" I said, tilting my head.

Tsukishima's cheeks turned pink, and his eyes wandered to the back of the room. "There's something I'd like to show you."

He headed over to the sliding glass door in the back of his house, and I followed him, curious about what he wanted me to see. I stepped down onto the concrete patio felt my jaw drop open.

On top of the brown wooden patio fence sat multiple mini candles. A small table covered in a white tablecloth was placed underneath it a big white awning. Candles encapsulated a white marble vase sitting in the middle. Three blooming red roses sprouted from the vase, surrounding the air with a fresh scent.

Tsukishima walked over and set down the bowls on opposite ends of the table. I closed my mouth and made my way to the table to set down the chopsticks.

The tall blonde male nervously scratched the back of his head, and even in the night sky, I could see his cheeks flush. "Sorry that I made such a casual dinner. I don't really know how to cook that well. I just wanted to surprise you...," he trailed off on the last sentence.

I rushed over and threw my arms around the tall male's neck. I felt his body freeze up at my touch, but once his arms wrapped around my waist, I knew he was comfortable. I felt a weight on my head, and realized that Tsukishima had placed his chin on top of my head.

I nuzzled my faced into the crook of his neck and whispered, "I love it Tsukki."

After a few seconds, we let go of each other and took our seats at the table. I took a giant bite of my food, and my eyes widened at the taste.

"Tsukki this is amazing! You're such a good cook!"

The male turned his head towards the ground and mumbled, "I'm not that great..."

I shrugged and said, "To me, you're the best!"

Tsukishima whipped his head back towards me, and I froze, holding my chopsticks mid way in the air. Shit, did I really say that out loud?

I broke the silence with a nervous laugh and looked around. "I-I mean um...uh..." I racked my brain for something to cover it up.

I felt a hand lay on top of mine, and my eyes darted over to the male in front of me as my cheeks warmed up.

"Tadashi...can I call you that?"

I gulped. My heart thumped in my chest, clashing against my ribcage. I slowly nodded.

Tsukishima took a deep breath before speaking. "I've always believed self success was happiness. Success in school. Success in volleyball. Success at my job. But..."

He took another deep breath. "....then I watched you grow. I watched you get a good grade in that god awful math class. I watched you get your first service ace. I watched you become team captain and graduate. I-I watched YOU succeed. And...that made me happy."

Tears of joy stung at the back of my eyes, and I couldn't help but smile widely. A few drops spilled from my eyes as I released a shaky laugh.

Tsukishima cleared his own throat, and he blinked rapidly in order to stop the tears from falling from his own eyes.

"Tadashi, ever since we were young, it was you. You were my happiness. And...I love you."

I gripped Tsukishima's hand that was on top of mine and leaned over the table. A small smile played on my lips, and my chest burst with happiness. My voice dropped to a whisper.

"I love you Tsukishima Kei."

He smiled, and I warmly smiled back. The flickering candles glimmered brighter around the area, witnessing our beautiful exchange.
