They rested that way, Mikey pulling Ray to lie on top of him and Ray getting worried that he was too heavy for it, only growing calm when Mikey touched his hair.
There was a point where Ray spoke. And at that point Mikey was dozing, warm and comfy because Ray was just a big heated blanket. He couldn't help it.
"...Mikey...?" he whispered, looking up from his place on his chest, "Mikey... do you still like me...?" and Mikey scoffed.
"Of course I do, what kind of question is that? You think just because you got bit by something out of your control that I'd suddenly hate you? You should know me better than that," he fixed his glasses up on the bridge of his nose so he could see Ray better. There was a look in his eye Mikey had never seen before. It made him feel sort of warm and tingly.
"...I was just worried," he whispered, "I... I didn't want to be alone.. And... I didn't want to lose you..." he looked down a little, running his hand over Mikey's chest softly, making him feel just a little warmer. He didn't know why but he suddenly felt nervous.
"I wouldn't leave you Ray, trust me," he tried to keep himself calm, stroking a hand through Ray's hair softly, "I wouldn't do that to you. I'm always here, okay? At the most, I'm just a phone call away, You can always call me," he watched Ray's eyelids flutter as he scratched again. There was more quiet then, Ray nodding and staying still.
Then he moved up a little. Mikey's stomach did a weird flip. "...thank you," he said, and the gravel in his voice got a tiny shiver from Mikey.
"Y-yeah, no problem," he kept his voice as calm as he could, "a-anytime. I... I can help anytime." he swallowed lightly, and as Ray looked in his eyes, his stomach did the same flip once more. He didn't know what was suddenly spurring this, but it sure felt new. His hands clenched slightly, and he realized belatedly that one hand was still in Ray's hair, the action earning a quiet sound from Ray's mouth. He moved up a little again and Mikey was pretty sure they'd never been this close before but he didn't have a lot of time to think because their lips were touching and his brain short circuited and he pretty much freaked out.
Ray tasted like sorrow, his tears salty against Mikey's mouth, so tense and yet so careful, barely kissing him but at the same time pushing so much feeling into it that Mikey got dizzy. When they parted, he opened his eyes, not having realized he'd closed them, trying to fix his glasses without being clumsy. Ray's face was flushed and when he realized he'd been staring he quickly looked off and cleared his throat. He sat up and got off Mikey, running a shaky, quivering hand through his hair, trying to find something else around to look at. The longer the silence grew the more he started to tremble.
Mikey was just too shocked to talk. He wasn't expecting that, whenever they went to parties Ray would either dance alone or get so drunk that he was the highlight of the dance floor with more women than he'd probably been friends with in his entire life. Whenever they were outside he was the most chivalrous guy Mikey knew. And he'd only known Ray to have girlfriends. Sure there were only like, two that he heard about, but still. His point was that this was odd. Did Mikey look like a girl? Did being a werewolf make Ray gay? Was he just lonely and needed some form of human contact? Did this mean anything at all?
He also sat up, unsure of how to put his feelings into words. So he came up with a plan instead.
He reached over, cupping Ray's cheek, carefully turning so they faced each other, meeting scared and anxious eyes. He moved closer, his eyes flicking to Ray's lips, and it wasn't long after that where they were touching again and Ray was back above him and his fingers were in Mikey's hair and he was warm all over. The plan was to see if it was actually on purpose, just making sure it wasn't an impulse that Ray had kissed him. He'd at least narrowed it down a little.
He didn't yet know how he felt about it.
One one hand, he was confused and nervous and sort of uncomfortable because it was getting warm between them and he really didn't know how far he was willing to let this go, but on the other hand, Ray was probably the one person other than Gerard who was consistently nice to him and yeah he was pretty attractive and the more he thought about it the more he realized this wasn't as bad as he assumed and then Ray's hand tightened in his hair and his tongue swept over Mikey's lip and he trembled.
He had to pull away, had to suck air into his breathless lungs, feeling his heart thud against his ribcage and Ray moved, slipping away from Mikey's lips and trailing his own down, rolling them over his jawline and to his neck, pushing his hood out of the way so he had more room. Mikey didn't even know if his brain was functioning right. He didn't even know if this was reality.
"Ray-" he gasped softly, feeling Ray start to work a mark into his skin, "Ray- I- Gerard's gonna kill me-" he felt Ray snicker against his shoulder, knowing that Gerard would definitely ask too many questions. It would be bad enough if he knew what they'd done, but if he knew it was Ray, Mikey was sure he'd never hear the end of it.
"Seriously- I- nh-" Ray moved to a new spot and sucked, "seriously- Are you- is this- you like me?" Was all he could sputter, dizzy and hot all over.
".. well, yeah," Ray's voice was small, tickling Mikey's neck, "I- I didn't know how to say it, and- and I was scared you didn't like me because I'm n-not human anymore, and I just- I had to try, I- I couldn't keep it down anymore.." he kissed Mikey's cheek and it made his face feel all tingly.
"I still like you," Mikey swallowed, squirming a little when Ray's hands moved to squeeze his sides carefully, "I know- nh- that's not you, and- and I know I like you anyway, and- I just- can we- slow down, can we slow down?" He asked nervously. As much as he realized he wanted this, he didn't want to be jumping headfirst into something that wouldn't last if Ray got bored of him.
"Oh," Ray let go, "oh, yeah, yeah, sure, I'm sorry- was that too far? I'm sorry-" he sat up a little, wiping his mouth and swallowing a few times, starting to return to his usual anxious self.
Mikey sat up with him and kissed his nose softly. "It was fine, Ray, perfect really, but.. I.. I don't want to be getting hasty, okay..? I'm more of a.. a.. a slow burn guy," he smiled awkwardly and Ray met it, giving him a small peck.
"Yeah," he said, "I.. I can do that."
