2nd Person POV

Dinner went by in silence. Slow, awkward, silence. Thankfully when Nishinoya finished he simply left, leaving you to go and lay in bed to try and get your spinning mind to settle.

At about eight-thirty, you heard the door to your apartment open. Meaning that someone had finally arrived home and whoever it was was about to deal with the company until you felt better.

"Miku." You sighed as you popped your head out of your bedroom door.

"Oh no." They groaned, placing their bag down. "Lemme change and I'll be in there with some strawberries."

There had been so many times when you had been confused or stressed or just not in a good mood so your friends would come and sit in your room to help you, each bringing along some snack. Mikkusu had strawberries, Jiyu would bring chocolate and Yachi would give you ice cream.

"So what happened?" Miku asked as she sat on your bed and you laid on their lap.

"I just...am really tired." You said, not knowing if you should tell her about Nishinoya. "I wanna hear you talk, how was your day?"

"Pretty boring. I had class and ate lunch with you, had more classes then went to work. Nothing special. I did see a new neighbour though." You stiffened. "Sure this isn't about your ex who just moved into the apartment right next to us?"

"I-um....well."

"Just tell me. It's ok, I won't say anything if you don't want me to."

"Nishi-I-noya, he-well I bumped into him at the elevator." You paused and took a deep breath. "I was in the elevator and ran into him. The whole time we were just standing there. He was trying to make conversation but it was just weird." You explained. "We figured out we were neighbours but just went our separate ways. As I was heating my dinner I felt the need to invite him to eat with me. When I finally went into the hall he was standing there and it turned out he was about to come and ask if I wanted to eat with him. It was a whole thing."

"Mhm." They hummed, taking a bite of a strawberry.

"We came back in here and I showed him around. We were in my room and he noticed this polaroid I have hanging on my wall. One of my friends had taken it when I first asked him to be my boyfriend in high school. That made everything feel....weird."

"What do you mean 'weird'"

"There had been times when he would do things and it would make me lose my breath or my heart would skip a beat but this....it felt like all the air had been drained from the world. I was so tense. So was he." You paused as you thought about that moment. "I was able to pull myself together and we ate, awkwardly. Then he left."

"And you came in here to wait for someone to come home."

"Mhm."

"Well. Sounds like you had a fun night." Miku chuckled.

"Tell me what to do!"

"How am I supposed to know what to do?" They asked and you rolled your eyes knowing that they would come up with something to help. "Here." They started and you smiled a little. "You need to take a second and think, what do you want?"

"What does that mean?"

"If you don't understand it right now then I don't think it's the right time to ask, so just move on from this. But later I want you to take a second and think 'what do I want?'"

"Hitoka said something like that. 'You'll understand later.' or something."

"Hitoka is a smart girl."

"What-"

"Look, I can't help you if you don't even know what you need help with."

"I-....that's a fair point."

"I know. Right now I think you need some sleep so go, take a shower and get into bed."

"But I still need to yell at Hitoka!"

"That can be done tomorrow."

"But it can't wait!"

"I don't know what it is but yes. It can." She told you as she forced you to stand. "I don't feel like shoving you in the shower so get moving."

"Yeah yeah."

"Goodnight."

"Night."

The next day was just like the last. Class was uneventful as usual. The kid asked you for supplies that he should be bringing himself. One day you were going to slap him. Lunch was some ramen you grabbed from a small place close to campus. Yes, there was a lot to do on your Tuesdays but you still needed to eat. By the time you finished your shift at 7, you were so drained.

'I don't only need to talk to Hitoka, I also need to talk to Shimizu.' You sighed as you sat at the bus stop and pulled out your phone.

"Hello?"

"Shimizu! Hey! I've had a long day and I need to talk to you, are you free?"

"Uh, I can see if Ryu will take over for me for a few hours, gimme a sec." You hummed and the phone went quiet, she put you on mute. You waited a few seconds and then her voice came back. "I can meet you for dinner."

"Got it, you know where."

"Yep, see you in fifteen." She hung up.

You got on the bus and went home to change into something other than sweats. A simple denim skirt and white t-shirt would do. The restaurant wasn't fancy but you couldn't show up looking like you had just walked out of a boring class.

As you walked into the restaurant the waitress brought you to a table. After waiting for about five minutes Shimizu sat down. She had probably come straight from work because she was in a button-up white shirt and black dress pants.

"Were you waiting long?" She asked

"Nope. But it seems like I was supposed to wait longer." You told her as the waitress brought over the water and menus.

"What?"

"I'll give you a few minutes to choose what you'd like to order." He said before walking away.

"I'm talking about Nishinoya. He was supposed to drive on Friday but nope, he showed up yesterday night."

"How did you?"

"Doesn't matter how. What matters is, you knew and didn't tell me."

"I wanted to surprise you."

"No. I should have known he was going to be back. Surprises aren't my thing and you know that."

"Sorry."

"Yeah." You realized how harsh you were being. "I don't mean to sound like an ass but to hear it from anyone but you was not what I wanted."

"I'm sorry."

"I know. Next time just tell me. Please. It makes everyone's lives easier."

"Right. Got it." She said, "Wait he came yesterday night?"

"Yeah, you didn't know?"

"No."
