"Knock knock," Y/N said at the door of the locker room, my eyes darting towards her mindful to keep my head still for the medic stitching me up. Surprisingly, she didn't rush over and coddle me like the first time I was hit, she just casually sat in front of me and took my hand in hers.
"Considering he definitely won't listen to you, what are the rules about getting this to heal properly?" She asked the man sticking a bandage over the freshly stitched wound. He then proceeded to tell me to not get it wet for two days, not raise my blood pressure for a week and to clean the wound daily after day three. Lucky for me, the next boxing match was next week.
"And no boxing for a month," he warned, pointing his finger down at my face as he stood up to leave.
Fuck.
"Thank you for cleaning him all up doctor, much appreciated," she smiled, shuffling towards me and pouting. Her bottom lip was jutted out and her brows were furrowed as she inspected the damage to my face.
"How do I look? Still cute and innocent?" I chuckled, trying not to move my face too much and agitating the wound. I had a needle administered with local anaesthetic but it was still pretty tender to touch.
"You're cute now that you're injured but watching you fight tonight Tom? Fuck it was anything but cute and innocent," she said pulling her previously pouting bottom lip now between her teeth and biting it gently.
"Ah, so you are the type of girl that finds a man fighting arousing... I was starting to think you'd be the type to get all scared and flustered and tell me I was doing a dangerous sport," I joked, pulling her along the bench and sliding her closer towards me.
"No, it was actually kind of hot seeing you out there, if you weren't so injured I would've been all over you when we got home," she taunted, our faces inches from each other as I hummed exhaling.
"Are we interrupting anything?" Haz said laughing, entering the locker room with his arm around Robyns waist. They congratulated me on the win, I told them that Y/N was my new lucky charm and that yes, they were interrupting.
"Uncle Jack is here, plus he watched the fight. He wanted to have a chat to you about your Dad but um, I don't know if he'd want Y/N here whilst you two spoke," Haz said shooting Y/N an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry darling, do you mind? I don't want to drag you into The Family business... I'll meet you back out there in a second and we can get dessert on the way home if you want..." I smiled, causing Haz to call me a simp under his breath and then flinch when both Y/N and I death stared him.
"Yeah that's all good, but I'm driving your car tonight, you've lost a lot of blood tonight and I don't want you passing out whilst on the road," she said pressing her lips to mine gently and slinging my gym bag over her shoulder.
She is way too good to me.
Uncle Jack passed by her through the doorway and looked back at her, his eyes darting down to her ass and then back at me with a look of approval.
"Gotcha self a girlfriend now huh? You really think a suburban girl can keep up with all this?" Jack scoffed, taking a seat on the bench in front of me.
"She's just a girl I've been kind of seeing, she's cool with this side of me. I haven't told her everything though Uncle Jack, don't worry," I smiled.
Wrong. I have told her everything.
"How's Dad? Have you seen him lately?" I asked, genuinely wanting to hear from him to see how Dad was. Despite my suspicions of Jack, I wanted to act normal around him to try and get information. I couldn't really turn against one of our crime bosses.
"He's not doing so well kiddo, he got an infection in the hospital. One of the wounds didn't heal too well so they're doing the best they can. I'm sorry you haven't been able to see him. I can only imagine how hard this all must be for you," Jack said holding his hand on my shoulder and giving me an insincere smile.
It is hard even though I have seen Dad. And I'm happy I did sneak in that one night to see him because I don't know when I'll be able to again. I nodded, processing the information I had heard and thanked Jack for telling me.
"The fight was brilliant though kid, you gave really strong effort out there. For a second I thought he had you, but you pulled through in that third quarter and ended up making me a cheeky twenty grand. You never let me down Tommy, you're a real stand up bloke you know that?" He said smiling and shaking my shoulder.
"Yeah, I didn't want to lose in front of the girl. That would have been kinda embarrassing for me," I joked, standing up with him to leave the locker room. Another fight was happening, not as big or momentous as my main event but people were still screaming in the grandstands.
"I haven't seen you bring a girl around for a while, she must be a keeper," Jack said looking over at Y/N standing with Haz and Robyn, waiting for me.
"Yeah, I think she will be... Well I hope so at least," I shrug, watching her smile at whatever dumb thing Haz was rambling about. Her smile was infectious, it really was. It was like you couldn't help but beam whenever she did, it just made me even more attracted to her. And the fact she was wearing a ridiculously hot outfit. She didn't try too hard, it was just normal clothes but fuck did I want to tear them off her right now.
"Keep her close Tommy, you don't want her getting caught up in something neither of you want."
